Myhandssped through the safe, but there was nothing there except money, bonds, some watches, and property titles.

‘There’s nothing we can use in here,’ I spoke with disappointment.

‘The computer. Close back the safe and go to the office,’Brax instructed me as if I didn’t already know what to do.

After putting everything back in its place, I followed my previous path and walked straight to the office.

‘I’m in the office. Just opened the computer.’

‘See if it’s password-protected or not.’It was Ferris who was speaking to me this time.

‘It is,’ the locked sign appeared on the screen.

‘Ok. No big deal. Just connect the cable to your phone and then on the computer.’

‘On which post?’

‘It doesn’t matter on which post. They’re all the same. Jesus, I have to break into some high-level security encoding, and you don’t know what a USB slot is.’

‘Then maybe you should put on a garter belt and come rub on the governor next time.’

‘You fucking rubbed on him!?’

‘It was a manner of speech. We didn’t get to that part.’

I could hear Ferris muttering something on the other side.

‘Now tell me what you were going to say earlier.’

‘Ferris is a moron,’Brax spoke, still unwilling to let me in on the secret.

‘Cole!?’ Maybe he could give me an answer.

Except Cole didn’t seem to be there anymore.

‘Cole?’ I asked again.

‘He’s not here.’It was Brax again.

‘Did he leave?’ I was a little disappointed that he decided to ditch us in the middle of everything, but I couldn’t say I was surprised.

Brax seemed to know something. ‘Promise me you’re not going to freak out. I asked Ferris not to tell you before you got the job done. But apparently, he can’t keep his mouth shut.’

‘I promise,’ but my words didn’t really reflect the truth since I was already freaking out.

‘Shit...Ok, I’ll tell you. Cole had to go to the hospital.’

‘Why? What happened?’

‘Nothing bad. They found a donor for your brother. So, one of us needed to go and make sure everything goes ok.’

‘A donor!? NOW!?’ Out of all possible moments, it had to be this one. Another irony of fate as life seemed to be making fun of me again.

‘I got a call from the hospital just now, while you were changing into that strappy thing. Just hold on there until I finish and Brax will be waiting outside to get you to the hospital. The password should be cracked in a few seconds.’And as Ferris spoke, I saw the desktop background lighting up. He was in.‘I’m a fucking genius.’Obviously,modesty wasn’t one of his qualities.

I kept looking at the screen, seeing folders closing and opening up again as he kept searching through the files. None of it made any sense, and in those seconds there were few chances it would. Sebastian was receiving new kidneys and that was all I could possibly think about. How badly I needed to be there for him holding his hand.
