Page 110 of Killer Confections
“So good!” Another assassin moans.
There’s a murmur of agreement throughout the patio, and I thank them quietly with a tight smile.
“Don’t be rude,” Atlas taunts, shifting his hips again and causing his piercing to hit my most sensitive spot. “Talk about your recipes with them.”
I bite back my moan, trying to focus on the woman currently attempting to ramble to me about baking temperatures for pies. I can’t make out a single thing she's said as she asks me a question.
“Yes,” I blurt and I feel my husband shaking with laughter below me.
The woman blinks. “I shouldburnthe crusts first? I was just joking…”
“Oh,” I groan. “Don’t do that and bake at four-fifty.”
She smiles, nodding before turning around in her chair and I fall back on Atlas’s chest, embarrassment flaming my cheeks.
“Ready to call it quits and accept your punishment?” He hums in my ear. “Give up and let me take you home. I’m going to edge you until you cry for me, but I promise I’ll let you cum.Eventually.”
I narrow my eyes. “Never.”
He shakes his head, but looks as if I chose exactly what he wanted me to. “You’re gonna be fucking in for it when we get home. That’s a promise,my lovely wife.”
I clench again, putting everything I have into it as his jaw ticks and his eyes flutter. “I’m fucking hoping for it,husband of mine.”
“You guys okay over there?” Alana asks. The surrounding conversation has quieted, and we realize everyone in our group is staring at us.
“Peachy,” Atlas grits.
“Wonderful,” I force a smile.
She purses her lips before turning back to Connor. It seems luck isn’t on our side as Thalia leans over.
“Mom needs a plate before she fucking starves herself,” she says low to Atlas.
He sighs. “Yeah, I was going to fix her one before Loxley and I walked over there.”
I perk up, turning to them. “Your mom? I thought…”
“She’s still alive, unfortunately,” Thalia supplies with a humorless smile. “Locked away in the house Rowan insisted on building her right after dad…” She uses her thumb to make a slicing motion across her neck and I gulp. “Literally too. You should have seen how Atlas—”
Her brother whips around, tilting his head in a daring motion. “Say anything else and I’ll use you for target practice,Thalia.”
She slumps back in her chair, eyeing me quizzically. “Does it really bother you? The killing?”
Her question isn’t asked rudely. She sounds genuinely curious as she tilts her head in wait for my response.
I make a so-so motion with my hand. “I don’t condone it, but as long as I don’t hear about it, I really don’t care.”
Wow. Never thought I would say that andmeanit.
Thalia nods. “That’s sensible. So, when is Addison supposed to be here?”
Alana turns to us. “Yeah, when will she show up? I’m getting antsy.”
I frown as I look around the patio. The sun is lower in the sky, signaling late afternoon. Rowan should have been back by now with my friend.
“Can I see my phone?” I ask Atlas.
He fishes it out of his pocket before handing it over to me. I check it, answer the texts from my mom, but there’s nothing new from Addie.
