She wasn’t wrong and I didn’t need to tell her that. That woman could read me like an open book by now.
They were all still young but that didn’t mean I hadn’t thought about what would come down the line.
My gaze stopped on the oldest of the bunch. His face was relaxed enough to make him seem like a happy, care-free kid. But if you looked close, you could see the protectiveness in his eyes.
As if he sensed my gaze on him, he turned his head in my direction.
“He’s going to ask you for a chance soon,” Mason said as he sat down beside me.
“I figured,” I said with a tiny nod of my head.
“He’ll wait three more months,” he told me. “He thinks that once he turns eighteen he’ll get less hell for it.”
Mason let out a long sigh and I couldn’t hold back my chuckle. We both knew that wouldn’t be the case. If I let him prospect, it would bring a storm of drama our way. But it wasn’t anything I couldn’t handle.
“You going to let him prospect?” Mason asked and then took a long pull of his beer.
“That’s up to the table,” I told him with a pointed look.
The side of his mouth tipped up at my evasive answer. He got that I was saying I’d accept it when the time came.
“I won’t say a word,” he told me as he stood up and walked off.
The club was stronger than it had ever been. With each passing year, we only grew stronger. I was proud to call this place my home, and every single person here my family.
“I love you, Mr. President,” Petra whispered into my ear.
“This life wouldn’t be the same without you, Pet,” I told her and then kissed her sweet lips. “I love you, too, babe.”
“Now, go. It’s time to blow out the candles and it looks like they are waiting for Grandpa Iron,” she said with a tinge of humor in her tone.
Yeah, that name had stuck, but secretly, it made me smile inside.
Her eyes danced with laughter as I walked away.
I’d get her back, only there wouldn’t be anyone around to see or hear.
Sure, I had shit I could complain about.
But I had too much good going on in my life to let it get me down.
I had a strong woman by my side.
I had brothers to watch my back.
I had a huge fuckin’ family that was always there to lift me up whenever I needed.
Yeah, life was pretty damn fantastic. There wasn’t a single thing to complain about.
The End
