“I do!” I point to the macarons. “They don’t know I’m a ditz until I open my mouth. Can I get an extra six? For research purposes? In my stomach.” I point at said stomach.
Buttercup just tosses her head back to laugh as she grabs the extra goodies. “Oh, I also made some candied house flies for Igor.” She pulls out a small bag from under her tablet and places it on the box.
“Ooohh. I’ll let you know if she likes them. I’ve gotta know how you thought of it.”
She charges my ongoing account before printing my receipt and taping it to the top of the box.
“It wasn’t hard. I know she’s always bugging you for new flies or bugs, but there’s only so many that you can order online or catch. I thought this would be fun to make. I used an old frying pan, so if she ends up liking them, I’ll keep it just for her.””
That’s the thing about Buttercup. She is the sweetest person you’ll ever meet. She’s drop dead gorgeous with her curves, but she is always so shy when we go out to the vampire club in town. Not that I’m much better. Give me someone I know, I’m my normal annoying self. Give me a new person, especially of the male variety, I clam right up.
“Thank you.” I squeeze her hand before picking up the pastries. “I’ll see you tomorrow!”
