I laughed but shook my head. “We arenotusing that as the song for our first dance. I’d rather have a country song than that.”

“Okay.”

I groaned. “I was joking.”

“Nope. You said it. I’m going to hold you to it,” he teased.

Dad came over and shook Jonathan’s hand. “Welcome to the family, officially.”

I glanced between them, relieved that their friendship seemed stronger than ever.

“Is it weird that I’m going to be your son-in-law?” Jonathan asked, a smile curling his lips.

Dad chuckled. “Maybe a little, but I’m happy about it. You have my blessing, not that you need it.”

My shoulders relaxed. Even though I knew he’d accepted our relationship long ago, it wasn’t until this moment that I realized how much I still wanted his approval.

“So, you’ll walk me down the aisle?” I asked.

Before Dad could answer, Jonathan asked, “How are you going to be my best man if you’re walking Sumner down the aisle?”

We all laughed, but Dad said, “It’s okay. I’m sure I can do both. I’m just glad to be a part of your special day.”

Dad raised his glass to toast, and everyone followed suit. “To Jonathan and Sumner. Cheers to love, laughter, and happily ever after.”

I smiled and took a sip of my champagne. It was a happily ever after, indeed.
