“Fuck,” I hissed when she reached into my pants and wrapped her hand around my cock. “Fuck, baby.” I closed my eyes, leaning my head back.
“Feel good?” she asked, a smile in her voice as she stood, pulling me along with her. She knew damn well what she did to me.
“Yes.” I placed my hand over hers, but she wouldn’t be deterred. “But this wasn’t—”
“Shh.” She covered my mouth with hers, silencing my protests as she removed my pants. This was supposed to be about her. I was supposed to be making her feel good. But all I could think was how amazing her touch was.
“Sit.” She pushed me down on the chair, and I stared up at her, a little dazed. I reached out for her, but she leaned forward, pressing on my forearms gently. “Don’t move.”
Her voice was stern, and it was a fucking turn-on to see this side of her. To watch her assert her confidence and power. To have her trust me.
I swallowed hard, my attention glued to the way she moved, with such grace. She spun around, revealing her back and taking her time as she removed her shirt then her bra, casting them aside before kneeling in front of me.
My cock jerked in her direction, clearly not one to follow instructions. I gripped the armrests of the chair, but the moment she started touching me, licking me from root to tip, I wound my fingers in the fine black silk of her hair.
She released me with a pop. “What did I tell you?”
“Ineedto touch you.”
“Not yet.” She smirked. “Not until I say so.”
“Someone’s awfully bossy,” I teased.
She grinned. “This is my office. I’m the boss in here.”
I chuckled, pressing my lips to hers. This girl was something else. And I loved her. Loved the strength of her spirit and the beauty of her heart. Cherished that I was a part of her past, reveled in the fact that I was part of her present, and hoped I would be her future.
“Baby…” I tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. “You’re the boss of me everywhere.” And then I let her take control because this woman owned me, heart, body, and soul.

I staredup at the house and took a deep breath. I’d returned to LA to wrap up a few things relating to the Wolfe Group, but I’d also hoped to have the chance to talk to Ian. To convince him to reconcile with Sumner, even if he never wanted to speak to me again.
I walked up the path to the house, wiping my palms on my pants. Thanksgiving was a few days away, and I knew how much it would mean to Sumner to hear from her dad.
I rang the doorbell, and then, surprisingly, it opened. Ian glared at me, growling, “Go away,” before slamming the door in my face.
“Ian.” I banged my fist against it. “Ian. Come on, man. It’s been two months. Give me a chance to explain.”
It was quiet, so I waited. Hoping. And then I realized he wasn’t coming. So, I banged again. I’d given him time, but I’d had enough. Enough nights of Sumner crying herself to sleep. Enough days when we both avoided mentioning her dad and Lea for fear that we’d break.
“Please,” I begged. “For Sumner.”
Still nothing.
I sank down on the porch and remained there for a long time. When the sun started to dip lower in the sky, I finally resigned myself to the fact that he wasn’t going to budge. I stood with a sigh and left.
The next day, I resolved to force him to see me. He was a creature of habit, and so I headed to a park where he played soccer in a league with some guys. I waited until after the game to get out of the car and approach. When Ian spotted me, he immediately turned and started walking away.
“I know you don’t want to see me,” I said with his back still turned. He paused, and I took that as a signal to continue. “But please…don’t punish Sumner anymore. She’s hurting. We’rehurting her.”
He clenched and unclenched his fists, and then he walked off without responding.
I hung my head, overcome with defeat. I didn’t know what more I could do. I would give Sumner the world, but I couldn’t give her the one thing she really wanted.
Chapter Twenty-Nine
“So…big plans for Thanksgiving?” I asked Piper, glancing at the phone screen as I placed it on the counter.
