"I don't know."
"We're going to be married, Bea," he says, brushing a stray curl out of my face. "And we both know that neither of our fathers are going to go back on it. Not now it's public."
I nod, stepping away. "So which door is it?"
"Which door?"
"To your bed chamber?"
I hear him inhale. "Are you sure you want to go in there?"
I turn around, a small smile on my lips. "What can we do in there that we can't do anywhere else?"
"Fair point. It just feels like a big step."
"It is. And if you're not ready for it..."
"Bea, I would marry you tomorrow if I could. Kind of."
I laugh without meaning to. "Let's guess. You'd marry me tomorrow if you could because we both know that's where we're heading. But if it was up to us and we could take our relationship at our own pace, you wouldn't marry me tomorrow."
"Something like that."
I step closer to him. "If we could take things at our own pace, would you still want to touch me?" I trail my hand down his chest, feeling his heart race beneath my touch.
He clears his throat. "Yes."
"And would you still want me to touch you?" I let my hand slip lower down, finding the answer already hard against my palm. My whole body heats at the thoughts racing through my mind
"Definitely," he murmurs, his face so close to mine that I can feel his breath tickling against my lips. "It's that one." He points to a door on the left.
"Show me," I whisper.
He takes my hand and leads me over to the door, pushing it open and letting me step inside. I'm not sure what I'm expecting, but the bed chamber looks fairly normal, with a large bed and several burned candles on the bedside table.
Linc shuts the door behind us and twists the lock.
I raise an eyebrow.
"Do you want the servants walking in?" he asks.
"Not particularly."
"I'm sorry they already know you're here."
I laugh in response. "I did walk in the front door," I remind him. "There's not really any hiding that."
"That's true." He steps closer. "So, is it what you expect?"
"It's a bed chamber."
"Yes. It was never anything more than that," he points out.
"Is this where we'll be once we're married?" I ask.
"I think you'll have a room of your own."
"What? Why would I want one?"
