"So what about it?"
Noah began outlining some changes he wanted to make. I listened with half an ear as I sipped on my beer. The longer he talked, the bolder I became.
"I want to dance." I interrupted Noah in mid sentence.
"I told you. I don't dance."
"Then come grind up against me. That's what passes for dancing nowadays, anyway."
His eyes flicked to the couples gyrating on the floor dance. "No."
More than a handful of beers later and Noah's eyes were slightly unfocused.
"The song. It should be sweeping, you know? Epic. Epic, that's the word. I want our song to be epic."
I hid a smile behind my drink. Noah had begun rambling after his fourth beer. I'd limited myself to two. He didn't seem to have the same understanding of limits.
"We can do epic," I agreed.
"But it can't justsoundepic," Noah insisted. "It needs tofeelepic. The song needs to speak to people. They need to feel it in their bodies. In their souls.
My lips twitched in a suppressed grin. "Of course you want people to have a spiritual experience when they hear your song."
"Not spiritual. Something more sensual."
"A sexual experience?"
He pointed his finger at me, wavering slightly. "Exactly. Yes. Sexual. I want people to spontaneously orgasm when they hear the song."
"You're gifted with words and sexy as hell, but that's going to be hard to pull off."
"I can pull it off," he said with complete assurance. "I'm Noah Fucking Hart."
"I wish I had that much confidence in myself."
"You should." He pinned me down with a heated look. "You're talented and sexy as hell, too."
I melted a little inside. "Come with me." I stood and held out my hand.
"Where?"
"You'll see."
He eyed me suspiciously but allowed me to pull him away from the table in the corner. I led him to the dance floor. When we were in the middle of all those gyrating couples I turned around and placed my arms over his shoulders, lacing my hands behind his neck.
"You tricked me," Noah accused, standing stiffly with his arms at his side.
"Put your arms around my waist."
He grumbled, but obeyed.
"Now sway."
We began moving to the music, our hips bumping together.
"And you told me you can't dance," I said. "You're doing fine."
"We're dry humping standing up."
