“Are you his Second?” she asks slowly, her focus shifting to me as she turns in my lap.
“Would it bother you if I am?” I wonder aloud, studying her features.
“No, but it would explain some things.”
“Such as?”
“Your quarters,” she says, her eyes seeming to search mine. “Your dominance on that call with the Prince of Jasper Sector.”
I hum, nodding. “And what if I’m not a Second, but a prince?”
She swallows. “Are you?”
“I asked how you would feel about that first,” I point out, my lips curling a little. “Do positions of power interest you?”
She shakes her head. “No.”
“Why not?” I ask, my attention falling to her lips for a brief second before returning to her pretty eyes. “Most Omegas like powerful Alphas.”
And if she really is here to ensnare me, then she would be intrigued by my status.
Yet all I see now is concern. “I’m a wolf.”
I arch a brow. “Yes, I’m aware.”
“I’m not an ideal mate for an Alpha in a position of power, especially in the Drakonian world. I would never be accepted. Definitely not as a prince’s mate.” She winces on that last part, like she can’t even fathom the concept. “You’re… you’re not a prince, right?”
“Wouldn’t it be up to the prince to decide who he feels is an adequate mate?” I ask, avoiding her question.
“Well, I…” She frowns. “Yes, I suppose so. But I would weaken his position.”
“Because you’re a wolf?” I guess.
She dips her elven-shaped chin in confirmation. “Yes.”
“I see.” That tour is more imperative now than ever. “Let’s revisit this chat after I’ve shown you around Gold Sector.”
Her brow furrows. “So you won’t tell me if you’re Prince Onyx’s Second?”
I smile. “I’m not his Second, Taliana.” I kiss her before she can question me further, and ash us back to my bedroom.
She gasps from the sensation, likely having not experienced it much before. Not all Drakonians can teleport, just those of us with unique genetics. I suspect her father lacks the ability. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have stayed in Obsidian Sector with his mate and their daughter.
“Wow,” she whispers, dazed from the experience.
I press my lips to hers again, then walk us over to thedining area. “I’ll endeavor to impress you again after you eat something,” I tell her, setting her in a chair. “Whether it be with my tongue or my ability to ash us to the beach, we’ll see, hmm?”
CHAPTER SEVENTEEN
TALIANA
Oros chose the beach.
Yet his words about histonguehaunt my every step along the sandy shore. Because I can’t stop thinking about his head between my legs.
Which is ridiculous.
He’s telling me all about Gold Sector. However, my focus is on his mouth for a reason that has nothing to do with listening to him speak.
