They lay in silence for a short while.
“I love you too,” Prin said eventually. “Just for clarity.”
Scott was all cried out. Instead, he squeezed Prin.
“I’m never letting you go again. Do you hear me?”
Prin smirked. “That might be a little impractical.”
“I don’t care,” Scott replied. “I’ve seen what it’s like not having you in my life. I’m not risking it.”
“I’m not returning to Pleasure Seekers,” Prin said. “I can’t.”
Scott nodded. “I’ve been thinking. It’s time for me to spread my wings too. Richard is going to make my life unbearable. I don’t have to deal with that. There are plenty of places that need a super sleuth HR professional.”
“I thought you loved it there.”
“I do. I did,” Scott replied. “I’ve been stuck in a rut for a while now. I guess I didn’t want to admit it. Carla isn’t going anywhere. If we’re going to change our lives, then I might as well go the whole hog.”
Scott had hardly admitted that to himself. But the more he thought about it, the more he was sure that the time to leave Pleasure Seekers was upon him.
“I’ve got an idea,” Prin said.
“Oh yes?”
“Let me show you my home.”
TWENTY-FIVE
PRIN
Prin had almost forgotten how severe the heat in Bangkok was. The air was thick and the sun brutal. They’d been in town for two days and Scott was melting.
After a morning sightseeing, they lay side by side on their bed back at the hotel. Scott had the conditions almost glacial. Prin shivered.
“Can we turn the heat up just a tiny bit?” he asked, pulling his robe closer together.
“Yes, I think I’ve regulated now.”
Prin got up and set the temperature at a more reasonable level. “Did you enjoy The Grand Palace though?” he asked.
He crawled back on the bed and cuddled into Scott for warmth.
“I loved it. I can see myself living in a place like that.”
Prin laughed. “Maybe on a smaller scale.”
“Oh yes. God forbid I’d be seen as showing off.”
They lay in their usual companionable silence that Prin was becoming reliant on.
“We should get moving,” Scott said. “We’re meeting Nanny soon.”
Prin tensed. Scott must have noticed as he pulled him closer. Of course, Prin was looking forward to seeing her. But she represented this old life of his.
“I must’ve been crazy to want to return here,” Prin said. “I wouldn’t have lasted a week.”
“It was a strange move,” Scott replied. “I’m glad I talked you out of it.”
