Page 58 of Ghost
The trap is set. The only question is, what beast am I begging to the surface?
Just because Ghost is reclusive doesn’t mean I haven’t sensed his dominance. If let off his leash, there’s a monster waiting to come out.
I’m begging for it.
Desperate for it.
I want to feel those claws ripping me open.
My fingers graze over the comforter while I wait. It’s soft and freshly cleaned. His pillows are like clouds, and his room is spotless. It’s exactly what I’d expect from a man who is precise and controlling over every little detail.
While the rest of the clubhouse reeks of stale cigarette smoke, Ghost’s room smells like leather and wood polish. And when I bury my nose in his pillows, they smell like him.
After I send the text, it doesn’t take more than a minute for Ghost to step into the room.
His jaw clenches at the sight of me on his bed, but instead of kicking me out, he shuts the door behind him, resting his back against the wood as he locks it.
His tattooed forearms flex when his hand tightens on the handle.
“You got my text?” I scoot back, stretching out my bare legs to tease him.
“How did you get in here, Luna?”
“You mean because the door was locked?” I bite my lower lip. “Tempe’s been teaching me a few things.”
“Like breaking and entering?”
“Maybe.”
Ghost narrows his gaze, finally lifting off the doorframe. Every step he takes toward the bed makes my body throb as a weight settles in my core with my anticipation.
When he finally reaches the bed, he grabs my calves with his large hands and pulls me down to the bottom. He leans over me and grips my jaw, tipping my face to his. Any gentleness is gone, and I’m faced with the beast he hides in his silence.
My legs rest on either side of his, and I hold the comforter, trying to stay strong.
“Why do you keep pushing this?” His fingers dig into my cheeks. “Why can’t you let this go?”
“Because you don’t scare me, Ghost.”
“I should.”
“Well, you don’t. What are you so afraid of?”
“People around me end up hurt.”
“Like whoever the girl was before me?”
His expression cools. “Something like that.”
I figured. The only reason Ghost would have sworn off women is because one broke his heart or got hurt because of him. He’s a biker. That’s how this world is.
Swallowing my jealousy at the thought of him loving anyone else, I refuse to break his stare. “Then don’t let that happen.”
His cool eyes ignite like the pit of the hottest fire. Blue to the core and burning me from the inside out. His jaw clenches as a smirk cracks his cold expression, and the faintest glimmer of amusement paints his face.
“You’re such a fucking brat, Luna. Striking matches and not thinking about what you might end up burning down.”
“What are you going to do about it?”
