AUSTON
A uston had been to Cancun a few other times with teammates, but it seemed to glow brighter with Chase.
Auston had chosen an adults-only resort, the plain building a massive horseshoe-shaped structure with a pool at the centre.
Auston had chosen to rent one of the more exclusive suites at the upper levels and couldn’t get enough of the way Chase reacted to everything.
He gasped at the enormous living space, gasped at the round bed that could fit the whole team, gasped at the shower with its multiple showerheads.
He pointed at the jacuzzi, at the full fridge, at the complimentary food, at the stunning view of the beach.
“Oh my God,” Chase cried out, almost toppling over the railing, he ran into the balcony so quickly.
“Jesus Christ,” Auston cursed, rushing towards him, but Chase was laughing, gesturing to the expanse of white sand and blue ocean in front of them.
“Look at that! Oh my God,” he gushed.
Auston squeezed him. “You like it, then?”
Chase turned in his arms and slapped him on the chest. “ Like it? This is literally the most amazing place I’ve ever seen.”
Auston grinned. There would come a time, deep in Chase’s career, when he’d probably make enough money not to be awed by this kind of luxury anymore. Auston was lucky he was able to see this, though—this childish awe at the beauty surrounding them.
Auston didn’t know if he’d appreciate it that much if Chase weren’t there, but Chase’s attitude was infectious.
They were booked for eight days—their last game had been a few days before break, so they’d flown out early to make the most of it.
They spent the first two days lounging and eating—Chase wanted to try everything.
There were seven restaurants in their resort alone, and they went to a different place every meal.
In the beach bar, Chase ordered drinks every hour, frothy mango and avocado smoothies that had him humming in pleasure.
Auston knew Chase enjoyed playing hockey, but it was undeniable that a weight had lifted from him the moment they landed in Cancun.
His face was perpetually split in a grin, taking everything with big, eager eyes.
He seemed to enjoy having Auston close—a hand always on him, fingers laced together or sides pressed into each other.
He glowed whenever Auston introduced him as his partner, when Auston lavished him with affection in public—an arm around him, a chaste kiss on the top of the head.
It made him wonder if keeping their relationship under wraps back home had affected Chase more than he let on.
Auston knew him well enough now to know that Chase was hungry for validation, young enough to need it more than Auston did at that point in his life.
Chase’s self-image was fragile, overly affected by the external opinions.
Maybe for him, something only truly existed if it could be acknowledged by others.
Auston knew there was a lot more to think about if they were to reveal their relationship.
Them being teammates, Chase being a rookie, and Auston being so much older were factors to take into account.
Auston didn’t want Chase’s reputation to be affected somehow.
The NHL could say they accepted Omegas fully, but no one could ignore the discrimination baked into society when it came to Omegas’ sexual behaviour.
So Auston was fine waiting, but God if it wasn’t sweet to see how life could be without having to hide. How Chase bloomed, petals unfurling, face glowing in the sun.
Auston was aware that taking a holiday and not leaving the resort was kind of lame, but he didn’t give a shit.
Their bodies needed a goddamn break, especially seeing that things would only get tougher as they got closer to the playoffs.
There was no exploring or meeting new people or learning new things—they were there to relax and nothing else.
They didn’t even make it to the beach until the second full day, the first one spent hopping from one pool to another. Chase was so delighted by the lazy river that Auston had to go through it again and again, floating with Chase on inflatable doughnuts.
“Oh my God, look at this sand. Look.” Chase cupped his hands into the grains and lifted them, letting the sand trickle down. “Look at how fine it is.”
Auston chuckled. “Glad you like it, baby.”
They rented some loungers under a thatched structure that provided shade better than the parasols. Chase didn’t stay long, though, dragging Auston to the water.
“There’s fish!” he shouted, and Auston could see Chase curl and wiggle his toes under the water as thin silver fish poked at him curiously. “They’re not scared at all.”
“That’s because you’re the least scary person on Earth.”
Chase rolled his eyes. “I doubt they know that.”
Auston snorted, and they waded deeper in, Chase splashing as much as possible, grinning as Auston got hit with droplets.
“Sorry,” Chase said innocently.
Auston raised his eyebrows, forcing himself not to flinch as Chase slapped the water and splashed Auston in the face.
Auston counted in his head. One, two, three —he lunged at Chase, getting a shoulder under him and lifting him up in a fireman carry. Chase screamed so loudly, people a little way off turned to stare, but Auston just barrelled through the water with his prize.
Chase banged his fists on Auston’s ass and back, protesting loudly, the noise cut short suddenly as Auston flipped him over and threw him into the water.
Chase surfaced with a gasp, spluttering incoherently. Auston couldn’t help but crack up, easily avoiding Chase’s swiping hands.
“You dick,” Chase said, wiping water out of his face.
Auston shrugged. “You get what you ask for,” he replied simply and then dipped under the water.
Everything went quiet, that full, cotton-like absence of sound filling his ears. He lifted up and Chase was right there, clinging onto him, arms around his neck.
Auston picked him up bridal-style as Chase kicked his legs playfully.
“So strong,” Chase cooed.
Auston grinned, kissing him softly, and Chase opened his lips easily, salt and water and the warmth of his mouth.
Auston could feel his heart beating, blood rushing—not quickly, but strongly, Chase a magnet that was pulling at all that iron.
God, he loved Chase. There was no other way of saying it.
Chase’s eyelashes were clumped with water, nose already covered in freckles from the previous day in the sun. He was so beautiful it made Auston ache.
There was something infinitely delicious about having Chase all to himself.
There was no one to share him with—no teammates, no friends.
For these few days, Chase was all his, and Auston could feel his instincts go a little feral with it.
He grabbed onto Chase a little harder, scenting him even though Chase wouldn’t be able to tell.
No amount of touching seemed to overwhelm Chase.
It was a heady thing.
Auston had always been an intense person. It was a benefit to his career, but it hadn’t translated so well to his personal life. It was difficult to turn that shit off—he always wanted more, always wanted to go deeper.
There, with Chase in his arms, grinning up at him as if he were looking up at the moon, Auston wanted to devour him. Wanted to sink his teeth in and never let go, lap up his blood and make him his.
They floated there for a while, Chase cradled close. Even when they made their way to the lounge chairs, they moved them together so they could cuddle in the shade.
And yet the more Auston was given, the more he craved.
He ran his hands over Chase’s skin even though they were in public, trying hard to keep it PG, but it was fucking hard. Auston’s gums itched, skin on fire for more.
“Daddy,” Chase whispered, kissing his neck.
Auston shuddered, skin sensitive “You wanna go nap in the room?”
Chase laughed. “Yeah. Let’s go nap.”
The walk to their room was the longest in Auston’s life. The hotel was cool, but it barely made an impact on him, skin still overheated. He kept Chase pressed to him, almost growling when another couple got on the elevator with them, but he managed to breathe through it.
Jesus Christ, he had to chill the fuck out.
The couple threw him glances, no doubt at the way Auston’s scent was billowing out. Chase was completely oblivious, leaning against Auston and typing on his phone.
Auston’s hands were cramped from fisting them so tightly by the time they made it to their suit. He couldn’t wait a second longer, grabbing Chase the instant the door closed and pinning him to the wall.
Chase squeaked in surprise but melted quickly, letting his body be manhandled and kissed and undressed.
They were shedding sand everywhere, but Auston didn’t even care, couldn’t even slow down to prep Chase properly—he used Chase’s slick to lube up and then fucked Chase’s thighs right there against the wall, jerking Chase off and breathing into the nape of his neck, mouth closed so he didn’t bite.
When they came, Auston caught their come in his hands, spreading it on Chase’s skin, rubbing it in.
Chase laughed. “Well, I guess I needed to shower anyway.”
“No,” Auston snapped, anger flaring. He breathed. “Sorry—yeah, let’s do that.”
Chase blinked at him, frowning lightly, but followed him to the bathroom.
Auston would wash the salt and sand off them and come on Chase again.
***
Auston sucked in a deep breath. Another.
Fuck , something smelt good.
He swallowed convulsively, spit refilling his mouth right after. His skin was burning, muscles tense. He shifted, and the ache in his balls, the hardness of his cock, made themselves apparent.
What the fuck is that scent? It was seeping into the tissue of his body, clinging to the back of his throat, his lungs, his gut. His head spun with it. He was shaking, scrabbling at the sheets—no, at the body beneath him.
