“Yes?”
“Thanks for taking care of him.”
“Aww… you sounded all motherly then.”
Faye hissed down the phone at him. “Fuck off.”
He laughed as she hung up and then leant against the door, tapping the phone against his lips as he stared at the beautiful, sleeping man. Kyrone had a lecture that morning, but he was going to skip it. What he needed to decide was whether or not four hours was long enough for Jared to come round and go home, or whether he should let Jag know he wouldn’t make it to their study date. Not that he wanted Jared to leave as soon as he woke up. He was hoping the sleep would have cleared Jared’s migraine and that they could pick up where they’d left off the night before. Or maybe they could just hang out and get to know each other a bit. Either was good.
He made a quick decision and dialled Jag’s number.
“Hey, Kyrone.” Jag sounded sleepy.
Kyrone knew his friend hadn’t been on shift at the club last night, but that didn’t mean he hadn’t waited up for Michael so they could spend the night fucking each other’s brains out. Yeah, he was jealous.
“I’m not going to make it this afternoon. Can we take a rain check?” he said.
“Sure. Is everything okay?”
“Yeah. I’ve just got a hot guy passed out in my bed, and I intend to take full advantage of it. When he wakes up, obviously,” he added hurriedly.
Jag chuckled. “I guessed that’s what you meant. So you’re blowing off studying for sex?”
Kyrone stroked his goatee. “Yes.”
“I don’t blame you. I’ll see you at the club tonight.”
Kyrone ditched his phone on the kitchen worktop and then slipped back into the bedroom, shutting the door behind him. He was still wearing the clothes he’d gone to the club in. His plan had been to sleep on the sofa, but he’d stayed with Jared for a while after the man had passed out, and had fallen asleep beside him, stroking his cheek. He lay on the bed again, close enough to run his fingers through Jared’s hair but far enough apart to make it clear that he had no intentions of trying anything.
He must have dozed off again because the next time he woke, Jared was staring at him with heavy-lidded eyes.
“Morning,” Kyrone said, brushing his fingertips lightly over Jared’s face. “You are so damned pretty.”
“Pretty?”
“Don’t tell me you’re one of these macho guys who baulks at the idea of being called pretty?”
Jared smiled. “No. I can get on board with being called pretty.” He wiped a hand over his face. “What time is it?”
Kyrone twisted so he could see the clock on the table beside the bed. “Almost midday.” He looked back in time to see panic widen Jared’s eyes. “Chill,” he said soothingly. “Faye says not to worry and she’ll see you tomorrow. I didtryto wake you.”
“How hard?”
Kyrone looked up thoughtfully. “Fairlyhard. How are you feeling?”
“Pretty groggy. I’ve still got a bit of a headache, but nothing like last night.” He tangled his fingers with Kyrone’s. “Thanks for looking after me and for not getting shitty that we didn’t have sex.”
“Why would I have got shitty about it?”
Jared shrugged. “I’ve been with men who have.”
“Wow,” Kyrone said as he took that in. “Just… Wow.”
He wasn’t sure why he felt a flash of anger at some random guy getting moody and demanding because Jared was feeling too unwell for sex. He’d known men like that too, so he knew the arseholes definitely existed.
“Some people are jerks,” Jared said nonchalantly. He licked his lips. “I really am feeling a lot better today.”
“Oh?” Kyrone tried not to get too excited by that statement, but it was hard when he was lying so close to a beautiful man who his body was crying out for.
