Soren
M aggie was our Omega. Seeing her in the house, with my packmates, it just made sense.
I didn’t think I’d have much convincing to do. She seemed smitten with Ben already, she was snuggling with Lucas like he was her own personal teddy bear. I was pretty sure she was attracted to me, too.
Lachlan would probably be the problem.
Ben had to leave for a client appointment after lunch, and I saw an opportunity to get some time alone with Maggie.
“I have some new information on the Heitzig case. Want to take a look?” I said, leaning on the kitchen island towards her. Her cheeks were flushed, and her scent was warmer after a hug from Ben before he left. I saw her eyes dart to my chest, and back to my face, and her cheeks flushed a bit more.
“Of course,” she said.
I smiled at her. “Great. Let’s go upstairs so we don’t bore Lucas.”
“Have fun, detectives,” Lucas said, and gave Maggie a quick hug. He caught my eye over her shoulder as we walked out of the kitchen, a bit stern, but I just kept smiling.
I let Maggie lead the way up the stairs, mostly so I could watch her hips swaying. Her leggings were like a second skin, and I could barely see the outline of her thong through the black material. I tried and failed not to picture peeling off her leggings and panties.
Slowly, I told myself.
I’d gotten my thoughts under better control by the time we sat on the couch. Maggie curled her legs up underneath her, facing me.
“What did you find?” she asked.
“Not much. But Fraser was combing through Greta’s social media and found this.” I pulled up the screenshot of the post on my phone and passed it to her.
“She doesn’t post very often. Hasn’t at all since the robbery. But this was posted a few weeks before,” I said.
The photo was of Greta in a bar, or maybe a club, with exposed brickwork and a pink neon sign, which unfortunately no one could read since it was blurred in the background.
She was laughing in the arms of a huge blonde man who smiled down at her.
Another man stood behind them, his arm around Greta’s waist, but his face was in shadow.
“Are you thinking these guys are in the pack she started seeing?” Maggie asked, passing the phone back to me.
“It’s the only picture she’s posted with any men in the last year. Wish we knew where it was taken,” I said.
“I might be able to find out where they were,” Maggie said, looking thoughtful. “My sister Kira is kind of an influencer, and she goes to a ton of bars around the city. I could show it to her and see if she recognizes it?”
“Couldn’t hurt. I also want you to watch the surveillance footage we pulled from the robbery,” I said, and pulled up the video on my phone. Maggie leaned closer to me so we could watch it together. Her scent had already permeated my brain, but even this small shift closer heightened my awareness.
The video was in black and white and had no sound. I’d basically memorized it by that point.
The camera was mounted above the front door, facing the cases.
Greta was standing behind the case on the far right of the room, staring off into space.
After a few seconds, shards of glass flew into the room from the busted door, and Greta screamed silently.
The perp quickly crossed the room, brandishing a gun and a crowbar.
He moved to the case farthest from Greta first and smashed it and the middle one in quick succession.
Greta was cowering, and when he reached the last case, he did indeed point the gun at her, even though she wasn’t putting up a fight at all. He busted the last case and used the crowbar to sweep most of the contents into a small black bag.
He took the time to shout and point the gun at Greta again before fleeing.
“Well, that definitely wasn’t either of the guys in that photo,” Maggie said. “He was much slimmer.”
“Yeah, I thought so too,” I replied.
“And whoever it was… There was no need to point the gun at her. She was basically on the ground as soon as he came in. And watching him busting all three cases to just steal from the last one looks even weirder than I thought,” Maggie said, her eyebrows coming together.
“Did you catch the end, too? He took the time to threaten her again.”
“It’s like whoever it was knew her,” Maggie said.
“I agree. Which makes me even more worried. She hasn’t been going to classes, and her roommates haven’t seen her either.” I sighed and ran a hand through my hair, then rubbed at my beard.
Maggie was still leaning towards me, and her eyes caught mine. “You’re really worried about her,” she said, and scooted in even closer.
“Of course. She’s young. Not close with her family. Seeing a new pack that no one else has met. She’s the victim of an armed robbery and goes missing. Of course I’m worried,” I repeated.
“You’re a good cop. I don’t think Jacobs would be worried about her,” Maggie said.
I laughed ruefully. “Thanks, but worrying isn’t helping me find her.”
“Well, I’ll help you,” Maggie said and shuffled even closer to me until she could lay her head on my shoulder.
I sat very still, fighting the desire to pull her into my lap.
Maggie rubbed her cheek against me and sighed.
My heart skipped a beat as her scent floated around us.
I wrapped an arm around her back; having her this close felt like a miracle.
After a few moments, she tentatively placed a hand on my chest. My muscles twitched beneath her touch.
“Is that okay?” She asked tentatively, looking up at me.
“Of course,” I said and gave her a little squeeze.
Maggie shivered as I toyed with one of her curls. “I feel like I’m going crazy,” she said.
Me too , I thought, trailing a finger down her spine, doing my best to ignore my hardening cock and focus on the simple pleasure of having her close. Patience . “Why’s that?”
“It feels like I’ve known you guys forever,” she said.
I smiled down at her. “Same, baby girl. You fit perfectly.”
Her smile was a little tentative, but it lit up her face. The moment lengthened. The two of us just looked at each other. She did fit perfectly in my arms. I traced a finger down the cute slope of her nose, then across her lower lip. Her lips parted on a sigh.
“Soren?”
“Maggie.”
“Are you going to kiss me?”
I pressed my forehead to hers. “I’m not sure that’s a good idea, baby girl.”
Maggie swallowed audibly. “Why not?”
“Because I won’t want to stop with a kiss,” I growled.
Maggie whined and clamped her legs together. My cock, already hard as a rock, twitched at her thickening scent. “Please?” she asked breathlessly, her eyes darting between my eyes and my mouth.
I captured her lips, and I wasn’t as gentle as I wanted to be. She opened up for me and I devoured her, groaning into her mouth, our teeth clashing. It was messy and rough and perfect. I slid my fingers into her hair and tilted her head back to nip at her long, slim throat.
“Beautiful,” I said, and suddenly she was in my lap.
She took control, kissing me just as fiercely as I had kissed her.
She moaned into our kiss and ground her pussy against me.
She rocked against me, and I could feel the heat from her core even with layers of clothes between us.
She built up a rhythm, grinding and rocking against my cock, and I was seconds away from losing control.
I grabbed her hips to stop her while my brain was still somewhat functioning.
“Slow down, baby girl,” I said gently. “There’s no rush.”
Maggie was panting, her eyes a bit wild. But as she caught her breath, she blushed and hid her face. “Oh my god, I’m so sorry.”
She tried to climb off my lap, but I held her in place.
“Don’t apologize,” I said. “Nothing to be sorry for, baby.”
Maggie still looked embarrassed, but she nodded.
I pulled her gently down until her head was resting on my shoulder. Her legs were still wrapped around me, and I could feel the heat of her against my shaft. But I just held her and breathed in her scent. Slowly, the drum of my pulse slowed. Maggie’s breathing settled.
“Wanna go back downstairs?” I asked after a few minutes.
Maggie sighed into my neck. “Yeah, I guess. But you smell really good. Have I told you that yet?”
I laughed and pulled her up to face me. “No, you haven’t.”
“Oh yeah. The day I presented, I couldn’t be around you. That’s why I had to leave the robbery scene. I thought I was gonna attack you like I just did now.”
“Well, that’s flattering,” I said, smirking.
“I might have been thinking about your scent that night, in the locker room shower. And also how handsome and talented you are. That may have been why I started perfuming…” she said with a shy smile .
“Maggie,” I groaned. I gripped her hips again, fighting for control. “You’re killing me.”
“Sorry,” she said, blushing again. “Logically, I know you’re right, and we should take things slow. But the little Omega part of my brain has other ideas.”
“I’m going to take my time with you. Touching you. Tasting you,” I said roughly. “I promise it’ll be worth the wait.”
Maggie leaned down for one last kiss. “Deal.”
