Page 20 of Deadly Obsession
About forty-five minutes later, we were going live.
Brian the “MaskedGentleman” had managed to secure a spot at the end of the couch next to Lola, Danielle on her other side, followed by Jade on the loveseat and then Mustang with me sitting on his lap.
I’d actually attempted to squeeze between them, but James didn’t really give me an option.
The moment I went to drop down, he grabbed my hips and redirected me onto his lap.
Clearly his way of telling all my followers that I was his.
I’d be lying if I said it didn’t turn me on .
“All right, Danielle, your go!” Lola stated while passing over the jar of quotes.
So far, we’d done two rounds and the only ones to take a shot were Brian and Danielle.
Though Lola was already ahead of the rest of the group having poured a White Claw into her coffee mug to drink on camera.
We had our phones set up in front of us, guesting in our own box while Brian hosted on his laptop, announcing that we had fifty viewers observing the chaos.
The comments in the chat were moving so fast it was nearly impossible to keep up, but two names entering at the same time caught my eye.
“Oh, Lyndsey and MaskedSurfer just joined us! You two jerks! We’ve been trying to reach you!
Get back here soon before you miss the entire trip!
” I said to them, leaning towards my phone as the rest of the group chimed in around me.
Their responses popped up, and Brian read them out loud:
MaskedSurfer: Just reconnecting with nature together. Out hiking.
ValleySmuttQueen: Not to mention, swimming. You guys will have to join us soon.
MaskedSurfer: Very soon. Though you all do look so cozy.
“What the fuck? Where are you assholes? You’re back? Well, get in here and play with us. Stop fucking around.” Lola laughed and got up to go take what was likely her fifth shot of the evening.
“They can see us on their screens, girl. They aren’t here,” Danielle reminded her with a laugh.
MaskedSurfer: Lots of good bottle options you have there. Wish I could join you.
“How’s he know that? The alcohol is off camera?” I whispered to James.
My question goes unheard to everyone else. Mostly thanks to Lola crying out, “Fuck yes, we do! ”
James shifted me off his lap and into his spot on the sofa. “Wait here,” he said, his tone making it clear that it was not up for discussion.
“Yes, Sir,” I said on impulse, which caused Jade to turn in my direction with a wide-eyed grin on her face.
A moment later, James returned. He shook his head. “Surfer’s car isn’t out front, just my truck. He must be fucking around. Let’s play.”
Then he lifted me up and sat me back down on his lap, and we resumed our game. Though it was obvious we were all keeping an eye on our screens, watching for more comments from Robert or Lyndsey.
None came.
Danielle adjusted herself in her seat, setting her board on the ground by her feet before taking the jar.
“All right then, let’s get a good one,” she said as she reached her hand inside, shuffling around a bit before pulling out a piece of paper.
She unfolded it and a wicked smirk appeared on her face.
“This is a damn good one. Only now she’s ? — ”
A loud boom of thunder shook the entire cabin to the point the water in my glass on the coffee table reminded me of the first Jurassic Park film.
The roar made me jump, and I could have very easily fallen off James’s lap but he’d gripped me tighter, pinning me down on him.
“Fuck!” Jade cried out beside us.
I glanced out the window, and it was as if that thunder clap had torn open the sky.
Just as James had predicted, it was downpouring.
I was too distracted by everything going on inside to notice when it started.
But now there was no missing it. You could hear the intensity of the rain assaulting the cabin.
A flash of lightning illuminated the windows, eliciting yet another scream from Jade and this time Brian as well.
I felt the quick rise and fall of James’s chest as he attempted to suppress himself. But at a second boom of thunder, he couldn’t hold back any longer and his laughter filled the room. Lola joined in and soon everyone was cackling. Including our viewers.
LOL!
Ha-ha-ha!
OMG, was that MaskedGentleman squealing!?
“I think that’s a sign for us all to take another shot!” Brian declared, standing and holding a hand up to the laptop screen. “One moment, everyone.” He then made his way over to the liquor table. Without question, the rest of us followed his lead.
“That was fucking wild timing. Brian, I want something better than the Fireball, though. Pour me a Jameson,” Danielle said, closing in on the table.
Another brilliant flash of lightning filled the windows, trailed by multiple booms. But none of the thunderclaps were nearly as loud as the scream that erupted from Jade’s throat.
She stumbled backwards, tripping over her own feet, and would have likely crashed to the floor had James not been quick to move behind her.
“Whoa, easy there, darlin?. It’s only thunder,” he said in that soothing voice of his.
“Fuck no! A face! There was a fucking guy or monster outside the window!” she shrieked, pointing towards the sliding glass doors. The same ones James had appeared in front of on our first night here.
