“It was just mine.”

“What?”

“The memory was just mine,” he says.

“Shit, I’m sorry.”

“I knew you didn’t like to talk about her, so I thought you wouldn’t want to know,” he explains.

“Maybe we should sometime,” I say.

“Yeah,” he agrees, and I squeeze his neck.

“Damn.” Sally’s sniffle surprises us both, and we turn to her, and I drop my hand.

“Are you crying?” I ask.

“Yeah, so?” she snaps. “I’m allowed to have a moment.”

“Tricks, don’t cry for us,” Luca says, frowning. “I don’t like it.”

“It was a nice moment.” She sucks in a breath.

“Our moment is over.” I lean forward. “Let’s talk about the flowers.”

“Do we have to?” she whines.

“I think we need to,” I say.

“Is it someone who wants to be with you?” Luca asks, his hands fisting.

“No.” She looks anywhere but at us.

“Do you know who it is? Is it someone in your life?” I ask.

“He’s not in my life anymore,” she mumbles.

“He loves you?” I snarl.

“No.”

“Little Bunny, tell us. Why would someone who's not in your life send you flowers?” I press.

“Because I killed my mom,” she grits out.

“What?” Luca asks.

“They aren’t from anyone who loves me. My dad sends me one flower a week to remind me that I killed my mom.” She looks at me and then at Luca. “He never wants me to forget the pain I caused him.”

She cried for her mates, but her eyes were dry after her confession.

But they are filled with pain.

Sally

My boyfriends’ past is tragic. I’m glad they were willing to share their life with me, and I know they deserve the same honesty. I don’t want to. Talking about my dad will bring up emotions I don’t want to deal with. No one knows anything about my past. Luckily, the family has accepted me without knowing.
