Page 10 of Cryptic Dreams
I’m choosing to ignore the way my body is reacting to her; though, the way my cock thickens and grows heavy and hot in my slacks. I’m disregarding the way every inch of my flesh is lit up like fireworks over the Mississippi River, how it pulls taught and tingles, and essentially vibrates under my clothes. I’m also choosing to ignore the voice inside my head that has begun chanting things, one thing in particular, that a Descendant such as myself should never even consider let alone think or feel. Things Ifeelso strongly they shake my very core.
Mine.
Mark.
Bite.
Rut.
Mate.
Claim.
Completely daft and absurd thoughts that someone as old as I am has never desired, and rejected long ago.
I will also disregard the way my vision blurs red as two males, vampire males, slide into the booth with her and earn a devastatingly beautiful smile before they each lean in to kiss her cheeks.
Gold.
Her eyes aregoldand they are framed by the darkest lashes. Breathtaking eyes full of life and warmth, and happen to be set against barely noticeablebruises.
Unfiltered rage surges through my body over the males, over the bruises, over the slight crack and minor swelling I now see in the female’s lower lip. I want to dismember these males for being so brazen, for sitting with her when they clearly shouldn’t, and then I want to find out who laid their hands on this most perfect creature before I track them down and dismember them as well.
I continue to openly stare as she removes the headphones, her smile still in place, and when she moves her books to make room for their drinks, I recognize the male to her right.
Aries, Orion’s mate.
At least I know he’s not interested in my female.
Not only is he happily, disgustingly joyful in his mating, Aries is one of the rare few vampires I know that has no interest in the opposite sex. Typically we all dabble in mixed party company from time to time—some far more than others, myself being one who enjoys both as frequently as possible—but Aries has only ever been interested in males, therefore wouldn’t be attracted to her even if he wanted to. He’s also someone I consider a friend, and he may be able to answer the many questions I now have about my female.
Thefemale.
Thatfemale.
Not mine.
Damn.
My eyes shift to the other male as he leans toward her, his sandy hair and stupid face too close for my liking.
Hers too apparently, because she frowns again and leans back toward Aries.
Good girl.
Just as I’m about to use any one of mytalentsin order to hear the exchange, to find out the purpose of her visitors and possibly even the reason for a study session in a vampire nightclub, I’m interrupted by a pair of grey eyes in the middle of a tan face.
“Wraith.” Orion smiles at me as he extends his hand. “Didn’t think I’d see you until tomorrow.”
I nod while I tilt my head so I can continue staring at the female. “I didn’t expect to be back until tomorrow.”
“Was your session a bust?”
I finally pry my eyes away from the goddess across the room and look at him, then shake his outstretched hand. “Quite the contrary. It was rather exceptional, so much so it left me with some pent up energy I needed to expel.”
Orion nods. “I see. So good it left you wanting more?” Then he quirks a brunette brow. “Or was it your other activities that have you so restless?”
Damn empathetic wanker.
