Page 63 of Conviction
I lift her chin so that she has to look at me. Her cheeks are glowing, and I can’t not kiss her. My lips just make contact with hers when she pulls away.
“I’ve probably got morning breath,” she says.
“I think you’ll find it’s afternoon breath.”
“That does nothing to reassure me, that it doesn’t smell like a fart.”
I can’t help but smile. “You said fart,” I say with a grin.
“And you’ve got a hard-on,” she replies.
“Oh my God, now you’re saying hard-on. What happened to that sweet innocent Nina Amoeba I used to know?”
“She was kidnapped and corrupted by some wicked rock star.”
I pull her in tighter and grind against her. “I’d like to corrupt you,” I tell her while kissing her neck.
“Can’t wait,” she replies.
I lean back so that I can see her face. I’m not sure if she’s joking or being sarcastic.
“What?” she asks
“You can’t just joke about things like that, Meebs. Not when you’re in my bed all pressed up against me.”
She blinks a couple of times and then lets out a long sigh.
“What do you want from me, Con? Where do we go with this now?”
I sit up and lean my back against the headboard. I pull Meebs into my lap, and she straddles me. I pull up my knees, and she leans back against them. I tuck her hair behind her ear and decide to be totally honest with her.
“I want this… I want there to be anus,Meebs.”
I write this shit all the time in my songs but right here, right now, with her sitting in front of me, all blonde and little and hot as fuck, I can’t think straight.
“It just feels right. You being here, in my home, in my bed. It just feels right. Like it’s where you and I are meant to be.”
She tilts her head and gives me a smile. “That rhymes. You ever think about writing poetry, or maybe even songs?”
“I have, but I’m not sure I’d be any good at it,” I tell her.
“I think you’d be good at anything you set your mind to.” And that makes my heart stutter and miss a beat.
Pussy.
“You have too much faith in me,” I tell her.
“I trust you to do the right thing,” she replies.
“I’m not sure you should.”
“Should I walk away now then?” her eyes are all over my face as she asks.
“That would probably be the wise thing to do.”
“I’m actually not known for my wisdom. My life is full of bad choices.” That causes a little stab of pain in my chest.
“I think you’re possibly the wisest person I know. It’s hard to do the right thing when you’re being manipulated by bullshitters that don’t have your best interests in mind.”
