Every brother, sweet butt, and even Gina, turned to me, waiting for me to say something.
“Why’s everyone looking at me? You have my permission, fucker. Now kiss your bride so we can get to the food. I’m starving!”
Snyder and Shasta both laughed.
“Well, by the power vested in me in this good state of Texas, I now pronounce you hitched. Go ahead, Prez. Kiss her while you can.”
Snyder gripped Shasta by the cheeks, bringing her in for a hot and heavy kiss, one that ended with her being dipped in front of everyone.
“Careful now, Snyder. Don’t drop me.” He righted her again, giving her another kiss before turning to the crowd, who was already on their feet cheering.
Then, like proud brothers, we watched our Prez walk his woman back down the aisle, officially now his wife and no longer just the Prez’s Ol’ Lady.
“You’re a big sap, you know that?” Gina whispered, wiping a single tear that somehow managed to squeak down my face.
“Yeah, well, don’t tell anyone.”
She noticed me watching them, admiring how happy they looked on their big day. I wasn’t jealous of them, I just envied the moment, hoping to get to the altar someday with Gina.
“How’d it go with her?” Gina whispered, bringing my attention back to her..
“Good. I feel better now that I’ve apologized.”
She squeezed my hand, just as Alex climbed onto my lap and wrapped his arms around me.
“Why is Miss Shasta’s tummy so big?” he whispered, making Wasp and a few others around us laugh. We’ve been working on him to not say mean things to people, or say things loud enough for them to hear him. He was still rusty at it, but slowly getting better.
“Because there is a baby in her belly, Alex,” Gina informed him.
“Oh!” he said, nodding his head.
“Mommy, do you have a baby in your belly?” he whispered, which was surprising since Alex had a hard time staying quiet.
Gina’s eyes met mine, and her mouth slightly moved upward. “Actually, Alex. I think there is.”
My mouth dropped as instant tears filled my eyes.
“Wait, are you serious?”
Gina nodded. “I’m late, Clash. And you’ve seen me in the mornings, I’m constantly sick.”
“I’m gonna buy you a bazillion pregnancy tests after this!” I shouted, making everyone look our way.
“Keep your voice down, would ya?”
A familiar face didn’t look too pleased—Tiffany. The way she was staring daggers at Gina was pissing me right the fuck off. But if she wanted to say something, she kept her mouth shut, turningto whisper to some other girls.Good girl. If any of the sweet butts try to cause trouble between me and Gina, I’m kicking their asses to the curb.
“I’m so fucking excited! I hope it’s another little boy.”
The corners of Gina’s mouth lifted even higher than before, showing off her perfectly straightened white teeth. God, how did I get so damn lucky? “Alex would love a little brother.”
Alex grinned. He was missing two teeth now, his baby teeth just keep popping right out. This tooth fairy is running low on funds. “I’d like a little baby brother. But I guess a sister would be okay too. I got to kiss Mr. Axl’s baby Summer. She’s pretty.”
“You should call your sister and tell her,” I said excitedly.
“What about the party?”
“It can wait. This can’t.”
