Page 139 of Claim Me
There’s a maniacal gleam in his gaze that shoots ice through my veins. This male is not sane.
Power bursts from his fingertips—power that goes right into Fallon as he throws her through the portal door with a force that has time stilling around me.
“Fallon!” Kaspian yells as her body sails across the roof, the spell taking her right over the edge.
My wings flare out around me as I take off after her, my heart racing in my chest.
She’s moving with such incredible speed…Too fast. She’s flying too fast!
I dive off the roof after her, determined to catch her. Tosaveher.
This can’t be happening.
A fall from this height will kill her instantly. There will be no recovering from it.
We haven’t even mated yet!I want to shout at her.Don’t you dare die on me, Fallon!
I can hear Nox and Bane yelling from above, as well as the sounds of fighting.
But my focus is solely on Fallon.
Faster,I tell my wings. We need to go faster!
The air whips by my face as I push myself to my limits while ignoring the approaching ground below.
Fallon’s arms and legs start pinwheeling as she realizes what’s happening, the motion seeming to dispel some of the enchantment encircling her.
It’s as though she’s slowing herself down.
Impossible, I think. But somehow, she’s decelerating.Magic?
Whatever it is, I’m thankful for it. Because it gives me the edge I need to swoop beneath her.
And catch her in my arms.
She jolts against me, her head falling back against my shoulder. I beat my wings upward, saving us both from an impact with the ground.
And sigh as she stills against me.
“I’ve got you, Fallon,” I tell her, my lips near her ear. Then I bury my face in her hair as I vow, “I’ll always catch you when you fall.”
CHAPTERTHIRTY-TWO
FALLON
Fallon!Issy screams in my head.Fallon!
Issy?I whisper back, dazed by everything that just happened. One minute, I was suffocating to death.
And the next…
I blink.I’m flying. With an angel.
Oh, thank the stars,Issy breathed.I tried to give him time to catch you. By countering Daithi’s impact spell. But I was worried… I was worried it wasn’t fast enough.
I frown at the concern in my sister’s voice.
Heusedme to hurt you,she continues.Hefrozeme under an obedience spell.Infiltratedour mental connection to let the patriarchs talk to you through me.Matedme against my will.
