CHAPTER 10
ANASTASIA
He chuckles menacingly, tapping his weapon against his thick thigh, and I swallow the lump in my throat. He’s intimidating. Yet, something I can’t quite put my finger on, is comforting about his presence.
“You’ve gone from one monster to another, iskorka. I was never there to save you. I was there to take you.”
Why the hell is this man calling me spark? I’ll take it over princess. God damn, his voice seems to rattle straight through my bones. So deep. So sexy.
Who the hell is he? And why do I want to keep pressing his buttons? He could kill me with one hand, yet, something about him is telling me he won’t.
“You’re an asshole. You know that right? Just take me back, I can probably end that old fucker myself. I already gave it a good go.”
I wish I could see under his mask. The way the creases appear next to his eyes, it’s almost like he’s grinning even though he keeps his focus fixed on the road.
My leg bobs up and down. Fight or flight. “Wait.”
He turns to me and his dark eyes burn through me. And there it is. That spark. It’s as if I’ve met him before, maybe in a previous life. That connection is real.
“What?”
“How did you know my name back there? Who the hell are you and what do you want?” I spit out.
I’ve had enough of men thinking they can claim me, taking what they want.
“If you behave for me, one day I might tell you.”
My eyes roll as his hand unexpectedly shoots out, grasping my leg with a surprising strength. I let out a long breath trying to keep my cool and my thighs clench together. I might not have slept with a guy before, but I know enough about my body to know he’s turning me on.
Which means I have to hide that from him.
“I don’t behave,” I say with a smirk.
This seems to be the best way to stay alive. I think he secretly likes this side of me. I bet women rarely push him like this, because he’s scary as hell.
Scary, yet incredibly sexy. And if I’m going to die anyway, I might as well have fun with it.
