Page 40 of Cavern of Silence
He jumps with his hands in the air, and Miguel throws his head back, roaring.
I despise Miguel. He has a woman like Julieta and doesn't care enough about her to hold on to her. And he obviously doesn't mind if she's with other men, but I join the others in laughter, since I'm also sick of Hunter's shit. And I'm trying to hold it together. What I really want to do is scream and hit something.
Or better yet, Miguel. I'd love to bash his face in for ever letting a woman like Julieta think it's okay to not hold firm to their vows.
How does their arrangement even work? Does she normally tell the guys she sleeps with about her husband and they are okay with it?
He holds the knife out again.
"Everyone done with their fun now?" Hunter slowly reaches for the knife.
"Be back soon," Julieta tells me with emotion in her eyes, but I don't know what to think of her expressions anymore.
Yep, have fun doing whatever you do with your husband once you reunite after years of being gone.
It's guilt. She feels guilty that I know about Miguel.
I stare at Miguel's Liliana tattoo, and my insides cringe again.
Vanessa's voice pulls me out of my trance. "You don't swing both ways, do you?" she asks Hunter.
"Funny."
"You should have seen your face." I goad him further, happy to have someone to take my resentment out on.
"Dude, did you see the V?" Hunter asks.
I can't deny it. Miguel is some form of nonhuman, I'm convinced. "Beast."
"Yep."
"So, what's the deal with Julieta?"
"Not my story to tell."
Since I don't really know anything anyway, and I'm not telling you so you can go on and on about it and dig at her more.
"Seriously?"
"Yeah. Ask her if you want to know."
"Like she would tell me."
"Maybe if you were nice to her."
"I am nice to her, except for a few occasions we've disagreed."
"You think telling her to get out of the car, or you'll remove her is nice?"
He groans. "Drop it."
"Why wasn't Julieta's husband listed on her paperwork?" Vanessa asks.
"She goes by her maiden name; Interpol must have missed it."
"Has he been looking for her?" Hunter asks.
I pick up a goblet, the bottle of rum, and pour three fingers. "You'll have to talk to her." I down a few sips and grimace.
