And his buddy, Bischel.
They take one look at me and shudder.
Or maybe it’s the male behind me.
Perhaps both.
We recently had a chat with Jack and Bischel, one where Volt allowed my wolf to play a little. We expressed our concern over the bribe they took from Gafton, told them what havoc he caused, and asked if they wanted to die or make it up to us.
They chose the latter.
And now they’re here like good little guards.
But the woman in the passenger seat is an unexpected attendee.
My lips part as I realize it’s my former social worker. What’s she doing here?I ask my mates, stunned.
A friend of ours named Reese did some digging into your case for us,Caius says casually.Tieran and Volt paid the lady a visit afterward, and wouldn’t you know? She offered to help us today. Such a kind hearted individual, hmm?
Volt doesn’t reply, his focus still on the Santeetlah Pack.
But Tieran’s lips curl just a little as he says, “Beverly, thank you so much for volunteering to join us today.” He speaks to her like she’s an old friend, but the discomfort in her hazel gaze says she disagrees.
She moves to stand beside Jack and Bischel, all three of whom are wearing similar expressions.
I would be amused if I didn’t hate them all.
“Alpha Crane, Canton, I want you to meet Beverly,” Tieran continues. “She’s the social worker that Bryson bribed to expedite Clove’s case. So I guess you could say we’re old friends since her assessment is what led to Clove being sent to Carnage Island.”
I’m absolutely stunned that they not only tracked her down, but brought her here.
It’s clearly a gift.
One I’m very happy to accept.
Because it means they want to ensureeveryonewho wronged me is avenged. And that just makes me melt all over again for them.
Shh,Volt says, his palm sliding from my hip to my stomach to pull me back against him.You don’t want to provoke me to fuck you in this field, Clove. Because I will. And I’ll make that former intended mate of yours watch, too.
“Beverly, Canton and Alpha Crane have introduced the four men who actually killed my mate’s mother.” Tieran points to the males in question, making them all visibly cringe.
The redhead on the left is thinking about running,Caius warns us.
I’m not sure how he can read that from the man’s bored expression, but Volt agrees with a grunt via our mental connection.
Tieran continues speaking as though Caius didn’t just issue the warning.
“They’re here to testify so that you can report back to the judge regarding Clove’s case and see that she’s not only acquitted, but released from the Reject Island assignment program. Because, as I told you, she was never rejected. As a Carnage Wolf Omega, her only true match can be with an Alpha Clan. More specifically, myclan.”
Beverly clears her throat. “Yes, of course, I understand. Would you like the inquisition done here or back on Wolfe Island?”
“Here,” Tieran says without hesitation. “Alpha Dirk will be videotaping it to make sure everything is transcribed correctly.”
The Alpha male in question is already setting up the camera equipment.
Three, two—
The redhead bolts before Caius reaches one and Volt takes him down with a quick shot to his kneecaps. Several wolves snarl and two of the Santeetlah Wolves pull their weapons. Which causes Caius to pull his and take aim as Volt shifts focus to them as well.
