Page 98 of Burn the World Down
I couldn’t shoot at Snyder. I couldn’t risk hitting her.
Instead, I raised the gun and aimed at the front of the Lamborghini.
Bullets pinged on metal.
Snyder jerked the wheel and the Lamborghini veered. Our cars almost collided.
Cursing, Bastian reacted with lightning quick reflexes. He pulled back a little, and Snyder sped forward.
“Get alongside him again,” I ordered. “Get us close. And hold us steady.” I unbuckled my seat belt.
Bastian uttered a curse. “Oh no. This is a dumb idea. You know jumping onto a moving car is way harder than it looks in the movies.”
“And yet, we’ve both done it before.”
“You’ll kill yourself.”
“I’mnotleaving her with that asshole. He could shoot her. He could crash. No, this ends now.”
“Fuck.” Bastian’s hands gripped the wheel, a muscle ticking in his jaw. Then he hit the gas.
We pulled up beside the Lamborghini again. Inside the car, I saw Georgie yanking on Snyder’s arm. Snyder’s mouth was moving, cursing, no doubt.
I tucked the handgun in the waistband of my pants. Then I climbed out through the side window.
Bastian moved us closer, only inches between the two speeding cars.
I jumped.
CHAPTER 36
GEORGIE
Oh God.
Snyder was speeding so fast. Nash and Bastian were beside us. Thankfully the road was empty.
For now.
My heart was pumping hard. One wrong move and Synder could kill us all.
As I watched, Nash climbed out of the window, clinging to the top of the sports car.
I couldn’t breathe. Surely, he wasn’t going to jump?
“Stop!” I yelled at Snyder. “Stop the car.”
“Fuck, no!” He elbowed me away.
“It’s over, Snyder. I won’t stop coming after you.Ever. You killed my sister. You’ve hurt so many people. I won’t let you get away with that.”
“I always get away with it,” he yelled. “I do whatever the hell I want. No one’s going to stop me.”
“Not this time.” I grabbed his arm. “That man out there, he won’t let you live. He’ll never stop helping me. He’s the opposite of you. A good, honorable, supportive man.”
Snyder scoffed.
The other car came closer, Nash clinging to the side.
