Page 70 of Brewer Family Collection, Part 1
“Thanks, Nickie! Bye.”
“Bye!”
I end the call, then I tie my robe tightly around me and head for the door.
“Who is it?” I ask, peering out the peephole.
A bellhop stands on the other side and identifies himself.
I make sure I’m presentable and then open the door.
“Mrs. Brewer?” he asks.
“Yes.” I giggle. “That’s the first time I’ve been called that by anyone besides my husband.”
My husband . A flutter of butterflies takes flight in my stomach.
“This is all for you,” he says, motioning to the cart behind him. “Would you like me to bring it into the suite or leave it here?”
The three floral arrangements alone are as tall as I am. There’s a box, too.
“Would you mind bringing it in?” I ask, perplexed. What is all of this?
“It would be my pleasure.”
He scoots by me, and I direct him to the table in the atrium.
“Just set them all right there, please,” I say, realizing I must tip this man. “I need to grab my wallet.”
The smile he bestows upon me is kind. “Thank you, ma’am, but Mr. Brewer has already taken care of everything.”
How does he think of everything ? “Are you sure?”
“I’m sure.” He sets the box by the vases. “Have a great rest of your day, Mrs. Brewer.”
I’ll never tire of hearing that.
He lets himself out quietly as I investigate the delivery. The first arrangement is a massive selection of the prettiest pinks, whites, peaches, and coral flowers with eucalyptus and sprigs of greenery. I pluck the card from the center.
Welcome to the family, Chloe! I’m so excited to have another sister and can’t wait to celebrate!
Love,
Bianca
“Wow,” I say, pulling in a shaky breath. “I didn’t expect this.”
I move to the apothecary vase next to it, which is filled with purple orchids and pale pink roses.
Dearest Chloe,
Congratulations on the start of something beautiful. I wish you and Jason the happiest ever after.
Welcome to the family, sweetheart,
Rory
I laugh softly. “At least I know where Jason gets it.”
I return Rory’s card and then slip out the one attached to the garden of roses. There must be a hundred or more of them in the deepest, sexiest red.
Chloe,
My wife. Here’s to an adventure we’ll never forget.
Jason
I swipe my finger over his name, my heart filling with a warmth that radiates from head to toe.
“It’s going to be an adventure, all right.” I smile, placing his card on the table. I then turn to the box. “Now, what’s this?”
I pull the satin ribbon from around the box and then remove the top. Black gift paper hides the contents below. My heartbeat pounds as I push my way around. As my fingers skim the fabric, my core tightens.
“He didn’t.” Although, I know he did.
Three lingerie sets are in the box, each with a different style and color.
The black one is racy—practically see-through, with the tiniest panties and a barely-there bra.
The wine-colored one is a corset-style bodysuit with a thong in the back.
The lace is dreamy, and the boning gives it structure.
It’s beautiful. The final one is a pleated baby doll set with an empire waist and a bow that sits just below the breasts.
It’s soft and feminine, with a thong bottom.
A card has been placed below them.
Wife,
For you. Well, really, for me, as I’ll enjoy taking them off your delicious body. I’ll be thinking about you wearing these all day.
There’s a store downstairs called Halcyon. They’re expecting you. Pick out whatever you want and something to wear to dinner. They’ve been instructed not to let you leave empty-handed.
Enjoy yourself today, beautiful.
Jason
I exhale, my body instantly craving him again. I reach for my phone and tap his name.
Me: Thank you, you crazy man.
Jason: I’m crazy about you. And you’re welcome.
I glance at the box of underthings. The quality is exquisite. I don’t even want to know what that cost him.
Me: This is over the top. You know that, right?
Jason: Let me spoil you.
Me: You’re ridiculous. And there’s no way I’m going downstairs to shop. It’s too much.
Jason: You think this is ridiculous?
Me: Absolutely.
Jason: Then don’t go downstairs today. See what happens. winking emoji
I laugh.
Me: Don’t you have things to do, like run an empire?
Jason: Lucky for you, I’m a good multitasker. I’m sitting in a meeting with four attorneys, arguing with my wife about gifts, and sporting a hard-on as I imagine you in the black lace.
So he did pick this out himself. The thought sends a spiral of giddiness through me.
He likes the black one best. Noted.
Me: Go work so you can come home sooner.
Jason: Take a selfie of yourself in the store so I know you’re there.
Me: And if I don’t?
Jason: Then the store will come to you.
Me: I don’t even know what that means, but you wouldn’t dare.
Jason: Try me.
A part of me wants to do just that because I think I’ll like how it ends. But another part of me wants to make him happy, and something tells me that he’ll be happy if I act on his request.
I stand in the middle of the atrium and laugh. How did this happen? How is this my life?
Instead of bothering him again, I take my gifts and go to the shower. Apparently, I’m about to go shopping.
A grin touches my lips.
And I’m crazy about you, too, Jason Brewer.
