Page 115 of Bite The Power That Feeds
He grabbed me by the chest and forced me off the floor, holding me like I weighed absolutely nothing. Then he reached for my head, his claws digging into my neck and jaw, drawing blood as he prepared to rip me into pieces. “Any last words, King of Vampires and Lord of Darkness?” He mocked me, mocked me on the verge of my death.
“Fuck you.”
A growl erupted from his open mouth, and he moved to twist my head.
But then he screamed and dropped me to the floor.
I hit the tile again and looked to see my savior, hoping it wasn’t Fang and Larisa.
“Do not touch my son.” In his black armor with the Golden Serpent on his chest, my father swung his blade for the knee of the werewolf and then the stomach. He had only an instant, the werewolf so distracted by the unexpected assault that he dropped his guard.
I forced myself up and grabbed my dagger, pushing myself forward to stab him where I could.
The Werewolf King grabbed my father and threw him against the wall just as he had with me.
I stabbed the blade right into his ankle, over and over, tearing apart the tendons and the flesh.
“Hooooowwwwwwllllll!” He screeched like the wounded animal he was and toppled sideways, blood pouring from the wound.
The wound wouldn’t kill him, so I jumped on top of him and grabbed my blade still in his stomach. I grabbed it by the hilt just as his eyes widened in terror. He was about to swat me off when I pulled out the blade and stabbed him through the front of his neck, pushing through the spine that attached his head to his body.
He went limp, dead instantly.
Now that it was over, my body couldn’t go on, so I slumped to the floor, in pure agony over the broken ribs, the broken leg, the broken arm…everything was broken. The fighting continued on around me, sword on sword, screams of terror as vampires and werewolves lost their lives.
My mind started to fade. My eyes closed.
“Son.” I felt a hand against my chest then warm fingers against my cold skin. “Son, stay with me.” He gave me a shake.
My eyes opened again, but momentarily.
“I’m sorry for what I did.”
I heard the words, but my mind was in too deep of a haze to care.
“I love you, son.”
My eyes closed. And they didn’t open again.

LARISA
Fang didn’t try to talk me out of it.
I rode my horse through the streets toward the castle, dodging the fighting that raged on either side. Werewolves attacked Kingsnake Vampires and Cobra Vampires. The white armor of the Ethereal was in a pile from all the dead. It was just shouting and screaming and howling.
We were halfway there when the howls began.
“Hoooowwwwl!”
“Hooowlll!”
“Hooowwwwlll.”
Werewolves stood on the rooftops and at the top of the castle, issuing their calls for others to hear. It must have meant something, because the werewolves started to run through the streets toward the main gate. The fighting ceased as they made their exodus. They ran right past me, ignoring me on my horse.
The Werewolf King is dead.
