Page 21 of Bewitched By a Vampire
And she had a whole party of vampires to deal with now.
She really didn’t want to get caught by one of them again.
Escaping at night was even more difficult though. She had the feeling that Night would be on his guard now and would be keeping a closer eye on his guests during the parties that were due to happen for the next few nights. He was going to be on the lookout for her.
He wouldn’t be getting caught up in the human hosts and pretty vampires now.
Lilian pretended that didn’t please her. Not one bit.
She saw a flash of the two females, one with raven hair and one a brunette, who had been ogling Night when he had come to save her. Eyeing him in a way that had blatantly screamed they were planning to seduce him.
They didn’t irritate her at all.
She didn’t want to accidentally curse them to transform into ugly old hags.
Lilian clenched her fists and pushed to her feet, and began pacing to work off some of the tension cranking her tight inside. The vampire wasn’t hers. Who he seduced and who seduced him was none of her business.
But he had wanted to kiss her.
Her blood heated, becoming an inferno that scorched her anger away, turning it to cinders.
A noise outside the sash window had her roaming towards it and she frowned as she looked down at the drive.
It was worse than she had thought. Night was sending the vampires and humans away. The vampire was clever. The fewer people in the mansion, the easier it was for him to keep track of her. She huffed. Resisted the temptation to damn him.
She wasn’t going to be escaping any time soon.
But that was fine.
She pulled her phone from the pocket of her dress and woke the screen. She might not be able to get away from Night, but she could still reach out to Gillian and her coven. Her thumbs danced over the screen, working as quickly as she could manage, her pulse hammering as fear rushed through her. If Night saw her with a phone, he would be angry, and he would take it from her. She eased away from the window as she finished her message and hit send.
Lilian stared at the screen and waited for the response, her pulse still pounding, anticipation making her restless. Her leg jiggled. Come on. Her message had been succinct, but also a clear distress call. She had mentioned Night and the fact Bastian had gone AWOL, and that she felt she was in danger and running low on power.
She was sure they would pull her and send someone to help her get away.
Her phone buzzed and she quickly opened the response.
And wanted to curse all over again.
She couldn’t believe it. Remain where she was and stick to the plan? So much for her coven caring about her well-being. She had told them she was in danger, and they had refused to help. Mother earth. She looked out of the window at Night as he bid farewell to the last of the guests. Her heart thumped against her ribs as he smiled and waved, his whole demeanour changing in the blink of an eye and ravaging her defences.
Melting her.
Good grief, he was gorgeous when he smiled.
Lilian stared at him, the minutes rolling back to when he had been standing in this room with her, pressed deliciously close to her, and had almost kissed her. She rolled forwards from there, imagining the hard and demanding press of his lips against hers, how he would have shaken her entire world to its foundations with only a kiss.
Every inch of her ached to feel it.
Wanted to curse him for pulling away.
And herself for panicking and ruining the moment.
She lowered her gaze to her phone and the message.
She wasn’t sure she could stick to the plan.
Because she wasn’t sure she could resist Night for much longer.
