“Nevertheless, we mustn’t underestimate Myrddin, or the King’s soldiers for that matter,” Morgaine advised. “If they are anything like the armies Arthur commanded, our victory willnotbe an easy one.”

Îarik nodded. “I will lead the elves to the cave entrance northwest of Camelot. We will spread out from there, staying hidden in the shadows. When your army starts to close in, we will launch our attacks. Our armies should overcome them easily and allow you time to make your way to the top of the plateau where you should be able to capture Arthur’s son with little difficulty.”

“And what of the curse?” Lôrît asked, appearing out of the shadows.

Îarik snapped his head in the direction of the voice. “Lôrît, you startled me. Does Mysel suspect anything yet?”

Lôrît stepped into the dim aura of light surrounding the map. “She has her suspicions. Especially now that she’s agreed to aid Myrddin and King Trystan.”

“She did?” Îarik hissed.

“As I said, General, never underestimate Myrddin. I learned that lesson a long time ago.”

“I ask again, what of the curse? You know the consequences of unleashing it. You cannot control the demon lord.”

“We have an agreement between us,” Morgaine sneered.

“And you believe him? You are blinded by power and greed, Morgaine,” Lôrît said.

“Enough! I will release the curse only if I must in order to defeat the heir.”

“Are you still with us, Lôrît?” Îarik snarled.

“Yes, brother,” Lôrît replied.

“Shall we attack tonight, my lady?”

“No. At dawn,” she growled. “I want the King’s soldiers well rested when we attack. I want to see hope in their faces before I crush it. I want all of them to suffer for their precious king, and for Myrddin to watch me destroy everything he holds dear.”
