...

Jian Ran entered the living room and couldn’t help but marvel at its luxury.

Precious paintings and artistic works were visible everywhere...

The atmosphere of the 14th century Europe immediately enveloped her.

Jian Ran pursed her lips, feeling somewhat ill at ease on her first visit to such a place, and stretched out a small hand to lightly massage her temples. Mrs. Gail, however, began to speak with warmth.

"Mr. Gu, Mrs. Gu, please take a seat."

"Sure..."

Jian Ran sat beside Gu Mochen, with Tang Bao now exceedingly clingy to him, so she also wanted to sit by his side during the meal.

Mrs. Gail had arranged for a child’s high chair, so the little girl was seated right next to Gu Mochen.

Jian Ran was quite pleased to be able to relax, as feeding the child had always been a troublesome task.

"I wasn’t sure about Mr. and Mrs. Gu’s preferences, so I arranged for some simple dishes. This is black truffle, specially purchased from the central south of France..."

Jian Ran curled the corner of her lips, and then heard Gu Mochen say, "Actually, the white truffles from the Alba region of Italy are pretty good as well."

Jian Ran knew truffles were a delicacy and, upon hearing this, she pursed her lips again. The table was filled with dishes such as oysters, abalone, steak, French grilled brioche, and salmon.

Each dish was exquisitely presented.

Yet Jian Ran’s appetite was only average...

"Mrs. Gail, this is the Royal Salute I brought with me."

Royal Salute...

Jian Ran’s eyes dimmed as she watched a servant begin to open a bottle of 21-year-old Royal Salute. Fifty years ago, Chivas Brothers made this special blend to commemorate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth of the United Kingdom.

The name "Royal Salute" stemmed from the tradition of firing twenty-one gun salutes in honor of visiting royalty.

This precious 21-year-old whisky, contained in red, green, blue, and brown porcelain decanters, appeared even more noble and majestic.

This bottle of Royal Salute... converted into RMB, Jian Ran felt as if the digits were an unfathomable infinity.

So, even though they were the ones being entertained, Gu Mochen had returned the favor with a gift.

It was a clean quid pro quo.

...

Jian Ran took the initiative to put some low-sugar food onto Tang Bao’s plate, then leisurely ate her steak, trying her best to fulfill the role of a decorative figure.

Gu Mochen and Mrs. Gail discussed business matters, exchanging views back and forth.

But... both sides held their reservations.

Jian Ran could clearly see Mrs. Gail trying to draw out Gu Mochen, but each time, he sidestepped and directly countered her attempts.

Karina took the initiative to stand up and pour wine for Gu Mochen...

The woman was already wearing a low-cut dress, and as she leaned over... the view of her chest was entirely unobstructed.

Jian Ran tugged at the corner of her mouth, feeling somewhat displeased inside.

Although she had gone for the pure and beautiful little woman look... the dress chosen by Gu Mochen wrapped her tightly.

It didn’t allow her even a hint of allure to show.

"Mr. Gu is so young yet has achieved so much. I’m also very interested in management studies. I wonder if Mr. Gu would be interested in teaching me some?"

The woman’s voice was coy and sickeningly sweet at the table.

Gu Mochen replied indifferently.

"No."

Jian Ran: "..."

Does he have to be so domineering?
