WALREN’S REVELATION

“Is it me, or is your baby bump bigger than it was yesterday?” Raptor crooned, sneaking his hand around Walren to cup his belly.

Walren glanced at the kitchen staff who were not-so-discreetly watching them, grins on their faces. His own face burned. “Rap! Not in front of everybody!”

“Ohhh? Why not?” Raptor crowded close, covering Walren’s belly with both hands. “Everyone can see your lil bump! And since they know what you look like when your belly is stuffed, this is different.”

Walren lifted the hood of his hoodie, trying to hide from them. “Why do you have to phrase it like that? It sounds so... so...”

“So...?” Raptor grinned and watched him patiently. “I meant you with your belly stuffed with food. What did you think I meant?”

Walren burrowed further into his hood, groaning.

“Awww, you’re so shy. You don’t have to be shy in here!” Raptor gestured at the kitchen staff. “They’re all our friends.”

“He’s right,” Big Bob said, waving his spatula. “You’re one of us, Walren.”

Rainbow Catz hooted in front of the stove, and Strongarm Jill waved her knife. Flappy Pete nodded and stirred the noodles enthusiastically; he preferred not to speak at all.

Walren’s heart swelled, his face growing warmer.

“See? They’ll all love you no matter how big your belly is,” Raptor rumbled. He rubbed Walren’s belly and showered his neck with kisses.

“You’re all... really great,” Walren admitted.

He was met with grins all around.

Jill turned suddenly, her gaze snapping toward the back of the restaurant. “Boss.”

Raptor’s eyes sharpened. “What is it?”

“Loud footsteps. Fast. Someone’s running closer. I don’t know if they’re coming here.”

With Larei still on the loose, Raptor had briefed his staff on a possible breach in security. Everyone had their roles in case of an emergency; Walren’s was to go into the office and stay there with Zebbie.

Walren exchanged a look with Raptor.

“Go,” Raptor said. “I’ll deal with this.”

Servers were still popping by the kitchen to pick up orders; the dinner crowd was in full swing. If someone attacked Nood’s Good now... It would be disastrous.

“Be safe,” Walren said, already ducking into the office.

“Will do.”

Walren pressed his ear to the doorjamb, straining his senses.

More footsteps had joined the first, approaching the back entrance. Walren gulped. Even though Raptor was proficient at fighting, he was still just one man.

Walren pulled out his phone and typed a message to the alpha group chat—the one that contained all of his and Raptor’s friends. Just in case.

“Surrender that omega and baby,” a too-familiar voice said.

Larei.

Walren’s stomach clenched.

“What makes you think I will?” Raptor drawled. “The only time they’ll go willingly with you is when hell freezes over.”

“I have backup,” Larei sneered. “You won’t win.”

Two pairs of footsteps came forward. There came the sound of flesh on flesh; someone grunted.

Two bodies hit the ground hard.

“I don’t know, Asswipe,” Raptor said. “I could give you a face rearrangement. We’ll be done with this in—”

His words cut off with a wheeze.

Did someone hex him? Walren thought.

“Fuck,” Raptor hissed. “Not right now!”

Walren’s eyes widened. Surely... Surely Raptor hadn’t just gone into rut?

Someone else stepped forward and landed two meaty thuds.

Raptor snarled, breathing hard. Someone had hit him. He was in rut and surrounded, all alone against several people.

If he went down...

Raptor had told Walren once that dragon babies were especially sought after because they were rare. Because dragons had been hunted and were now in hiding, and adult dragons were just as valuable as their babies.

If Larei found out what Raptor was, then Raptor would be in danger, too.

How good was Raptor in a fight, when he was distracted by his rut?

“Oh, gods,” Walren whispered.

“Stay in there,” Raptor muttered.

No, Walren couldn’t.

With shaking hands, Walren sent his plea for help to the group chat. Then he set down his phone and opened the office door.

A fight had broken out beyond the back door. Without seeing it with his own eyes, all Walren could hear were punches and grunts. Which of those were landing on Raptor? Had Larei joined in just to hurt Walren’s alpha?

His stomach twisted.

The thing was, Walren wanted Raptor to be his alpha. Raptor was sweet and silly, but he was always, always so bright and cheerful. He cared so much for his friends and family, for Walren and Zebbie, and he wanted to meet their baby, too.

Not only that. Raptor had never once looked at Walren differently because of his bad leg. Raptor accepted him; he helped Walren whenever Walren had trouble walking. Most nights, he massaged Walren’s leg, too.

Without expecting anything in return.

If Raptor went down in this fight, if his friends weren’t in time to take some heat off his shoulders... Walren would stand the very real danger of losing the only alpha in his life who mattered.

I love him, Walren realized. His throat grew tight.

There was one thing he could do.

One thing he had been hired to do, even if it sounded crazy.

“Raptor!” Walren said. “Come back in here.”

“Why would I?” Raptor muttered, sounding sluggish.

“Just for thirty seconds! Please!” Walren’s voice went high and desperate when he heard several more dull thuds.

Raptor wrenched open the back door, throwing himself through the doorway.

He slammed the door shut just in time to hold back several more blows.

“Why did you call me back?” Raptor’s lip was split, and bruises were forming on his face. He was also panting, his pupils dilated, an obvious bulge in his pants that thankfully no one had noticed.

Walren grabbed Raptor’s belt and undid it the fastest he ever had.

Raptor’s eyes grew wide. “Sweetheart—”

“Give me thirty seconds,” Walren said. “I think you can come in that time.”

“But—”

Walren pulled out Raptor’s wet cock. Then he shoved down his own pants, just enough to bare his ass, turning around to present his hole.

“Fucking banana monkeys in three trench coats,” Raptor hissed.

He shifted a fingernail into a claw and jabbed it into the meat of his thumb. Blood began dripping; he smeared it across a paper spell next to the back door.

The spell glowed briefly, before fading.

“Barrier spell,” Raptor muttered. “So they can’t crash through the door.”

He grabbed Walren around the chest and lifted him off his feet, pinning him against the wall. Then he swiped his blunt tip between Walren’s cheeks, found his hole, and pushed in.

The last time they had mated was this morning. Walren had tightened up since then, so this rough stretch sent pleasure scorching through his veins. He gasped, his body coming alive. Raptor plowed into him, hard thrusts that served only one purpose: to bring himself over the edge.

It still felt good, even if Walren felt the immense pressure of the situation.

Fists and feet battered against the back door. The pounding inside him grew more vicious as Raptor snarled, his hand bruisingly tight on Walren’s hip. But Raptor wasn’t coming quickly enough. Would the bad guys target the front of the restaurant next?

We need to hurry!

“Breed me,” Walren gasped. “I want you to fill me with so much cum that—that I’m pregnant nonstop for the next five years.”

Raptor shuddered, cramming every inch into Walren as he came hard. “Fuck!”

He sucked in several ragged breaths, about to pull Walren off his cock.

Walren grabbed his wrists. “No! We have to knot, or your rut won’t end.”

“I’m not bringing you out there with me,” Raptor hissed.

“Give me a knife. I’ll defend myself.”

Raptor glowered. Both of them knew that Walren wasn’t particularly good at self-defense.

The back door was starting to shudder; Larei’s henchmen were throwing themselves bodily at it.

“Five of you, attack the front of the restaurant,” Larei said.

“Fuck,” Raptor hissed. He barked over his shoulder, “Get me a cleaver.”

Jill ran over with one, shoving it into Walren’s hands. It smelled like onions. “What should we do?”

“You and Bob, keep everyone inside. Activate the front barrier. I’ll cover the back.”

Jill nodded tersely and ran off.

Raptor exchanged a look with Walren. He pressed a hard kiss to Walren’s temple, his knot swelling and locking in Walren’s body.

“Aim for their faces and shoulders. Please don’t make me regret this.”

Walren tightened his grip on the cleaver. “I’m going to protect you.”

His alpha inhaled sharply. He squeezed Walren around the waist, drew a mark on the active spell sheet to drop the barrier, and flung open the back door.
