Story: Wings So Wicked
Fuck, Wolf’s hands on my body made me forget about Lanson altogether. I was suddenly reminded of the eyes that still lingered on us.
I swallowed before answering, “Very mad.”
A fraction of a smile flashed across Wolf’s wickedly handsome face before he dipped his head and kissed me.
No, a kiss was not a strong enough word to describe it.
It was a confession, a promise, a domination, an enchantment.
Wolf’s mouth controlled me easily, slowly at first, as if he was giving me time to get used to it. After a few seconds, though, he seemed to quit holding back. His mouth moved against mine with a tantalizing heat, one that made me happy he was practically holding my body up against his.
I kissed him back, not worried if I was doing it right. Not concerned about whether he would like it or whether I was about to embarrass myself. Wolf guided me with the same conviction he carried all the time.
Only now, it was for me.
And I had to admit, it was damn sexy.
Our bodies fit together perfectly, as if my waist was made for his arms to hold. As if his shoulders were made to lift me, to support me.
We had touched many times before. I was no stranger to how a man’s body felt against mine.
But this? This was devotional.
He moved to grip my ass, nearly lifting me off the ground with his strength. I moaned against him—not on purpose, which I was sure he’d give me shit for later—and slipped my hands into his hair, pulling.
The growl of pleasure that came from him made my legs even weaker. “Careful,” he mumbled against my mouth, but he didn’t stop.
No, he deepened the kiss further, if that was even possible. He devoured my lips until that wasn’t enough, then he moved to devour my jaw, my neck, my collarbone.
I exhaled deeply when he gripped my ass again, this time wrapping my leg around his waist to hold me there. I tossed my head back as Wolf ran his tongue up the front of my neck, meeting my lips again with a light bite.
He kissed me, gentle and slow, before barely pulling away. “He’s gone,” Wolf breathed.
“Good,” I whispered back, my voice hoarse.
We stood there longer than we needed to, wrapped in this intimate and vulnerable embrace in the middle of the study.
Too many unsaid words lingered between us, too many truths and secrets and lies.
Ashlani cleared her throat behind Wolf.
I shoved myself away, fumbling to straighten my top and my hair as Wolf just stood there, smirking at me.
“See you later, then,” he said.
And then he, too, departed the study, leaving me breathless and on fire.
Ashlani and Voiler both stood, their arms filled with piles of books and their mouths hanging open.
“Shut up,” I cut them off before they could even begin, but it was impossible to stop the smile from spreading on my face. “Do not say a word.”
They returned to the table, the three of us pulling out our chairs and taking a seat as if I hadn’t just been kissing the fallen angel. Neither of them asked questions, though I could tell Ashlani was ready to erupt with curiosity.
We dove into the books of history and vampyres and angels and war, but as we sat there studying, my entire body heated with every single memory of Wolf’s hands on my skin.
I didn’t see him for the rest of the day. Not in the dining hall, not in the courtyard. Not even in the bedroom, as I made it back later that night, lying in bed and perking up at every sound in the hallway.
No, Wolf was back to being his mysterious, disappearing self for the day, leaving me a pathetic pile of worry and curiosity.
