He was just Alessandro, as she had called him.

And she was Rowan.

Alessandro had never been so vicious with a lover, had never had so much demanded of him by someone who knew what they wanted and asked for it with no thought of shyness.

It was around the sixth round when he couldn’t hold himself up any longer. Black edged his vision, watching as she also fought the losing battle of exhaustion. He was still inside her as they both closed their eyes.

He’d made a mistake, he thought as he fell unconscious. He’d let her crawl under his skin not only once, but twice.

He really had to do something about the woman. But perhaps it could wait until he showed her everything their bodies could do together.

Yes.

It could wait.

Chapter 8

When Rowan came to consciousness, she realized she was in bed. Her bleary eyes looked around the room to see that the sunwas working on setting outside. The blaring sound of her phone ringing near her footboard had woken her up.

Sighing, she tried to reach for it, but her aching muscles stopped her in her tracks. Her back, her abs and her vagina screamed their denial of her freedom and she cursed her inebriated alter ego for its recent reckless decision.

Yet, she couldn’t help but smirk at some images that ran along her mind. Alessandro had proven to be as fantastic of a lover as she’d sometimes daydreamed. Actually, even more so because she hadn’t expected him to be such a ferocious beast.

As she lay in the bed, worrying about if she could ever walk straight again, an unfamiliar plant on her bedside table caught her attention. She turned her head and saw a small card on its base with her name written in an ornate font.

Being within arm’s reach, she grabbed the note and flipped it to the other side where in the same font it said, ‘These two green pills will ease some of the discomfort. Your choice to take them or not, but it will be easier on your throat than my dick. Next time you want to test the limits of your succubus, here’s my number. Thanks for the fun, Princess Rowan.”

Rowan wasn’t sure she’d ever get rid of the shit-eating grin she could feel on her face by the time she got to the end of the letter.

The sharp tones of her ringtone tore her attention from the scenarios of what else she could do with the Dragon King. She sighed and swallowed the pills.

It took less than a breath or two for them to kick in. She felt the throbbing pain ease until she could reach for her phone.

“Finally! Do you know how close fox-boy and I were to coming and kicking down your door?” Louisa’s shriek filled Rowan’s ear.

Rowan rolled her eyes. “If the sound of the lapping waves outside of my window are anything to go by, we could have had a beach day.”

Kin’s annoyance was palpable even with no facial features to underline his displeasure. “Could you explain why you went M.I.A?”

Rowan didn’t really want to, so she remained quiet, knowing Louisa, uncomfortable with prolonged silence, would interfere.

A moment later the vampiress came through with the rescue, “What’s really important is figuring out if you have some idea on how to deal with these wolves.”

“Which wolves?” Rowan asked, only noticing then that she could hear a commotion in the background that wasn’t Kin related and that Louisa sounded winded.

“What? Are you serious? What have you been up to? I’m talking about the wolves that are attacking the people in Greece. The Coven is here, but I can’t tell if they’re doing more harm than good.”

Rowan, for her part, was still finding it difficult to move despite the speed she felt herself recovering. She had a thousand questions and her mind was working to figure out if there was a connection between this and the attack on the dragons.

Could Elaine Hitori not have been the only one responsible for it?

It could be a coincidence. Violent things happened every day, but her gut was telling her this wasn’t the case.

“Louisa?” Kin’s voice cracked. “Something’s wrong.”

Rowan’s heart slammed to the bottom of her stomach. Her eyes darted around her room to find a tee shirt and a pair of cotton shorts not too far from her. They didn’t match, but it would have to do. Pushing past the pain of her nether region, she vaulted from the bed and scrambled to put them on.

“Kin, Kin? Can you hear me?”
