Chapter 68: The Destiny of Nate Belen
Author’s Note:Surprise! I bet you all didn’t expect there to be such a quick update. But let’s just say that I found myself with some… inspiration that was certainly… inspired by a certain someone who… inspires me. Someone who might have done a backwards kick and then didn’t really make a big deal about a pillow. (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!!!) If that… person… is reading this, I hope you enjoy it. Sorry this is so short! I’m laying the groundwork for what will become something AMAZING.
Nate leapt from the bridge spire directly onto Pyro Storm’s back. Pyro Storm shouted in anger as Nate wrapped his leg around his waist, reaching between them and pulling the cape up and over the villain’s head. “Andthat’swhy you don’t wear a cape, you gigantic jerk,” Nate growled awesomely, like a badass.
Pyro Storm cursed as he struggled to find his way out of his cape. Nate tried to hold on as best he could, but Pyro Storm was bigger and stronger. Nate couldn’t avoid the elbow that Pyro Storm threw back at him. It struck the side of Nate’s face. Nate saw stars.
He let go of Pyro Storm.
And began to fall.
“Nate!” Shadow Star screamed.
But what neither of the Extraordinaries knew was that Nate Belen had been waiting for thisexact moment. It was all part of his plan. He didn’tneedto be rescued, even though he knew Shadow Star couldn’t help himself. Nate understood that even though Shadow Star had tried to push him away, they were connected in ways that defied explanation. There was a bond between them stronger than steel, more powerful than a laser beam shot from the world’s biggest ray gun.
But Nate had a secret of his own.
You see, Nate too was an Extraordinary.
And it was time for the world to see what he was capable of.
He heard Shadow Star crying out his name. Pyro Storm was cackling maniacally. But Nate wasn’t some damsel in distress.
He was more.
And right before he hit the water, his power unfurled and everything went white.
TO BE CONTINUED!!

ExtraordinariesSuperFan 18:16:WHAT IS HAPPENING. WHAT IS THIS. WHAT IS THIS TWIST. WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME.
PyroStarIsLife 18:26:They should let Nate die & then Pyro Storm & Shadow Star should get married & have bebbies & live in a farm & sell organic produce uwu
Lobster16 18:54:Wait, what? When did Nate become an Extraordinary? Hasn’t this whole thing been about him not being an Extraordinary? I’m so confused. He’s been captured seventeen times in this entire fic, and not once did his powers ever come out. This really messes with the continuity. Why not have Nate reveal himself to be an Extraordinary back when Pyro Storm took him captive at the zoo in chapter 16? Or at the street fair in chapter 19? Or even in chapter 24 when Nate was randomly a DJ at a bar mitzvah for reasons that were never explained?
MoltenMagma 19:12:Yeah, you’re making this up as you go along, aren’t you. I dunno how much longer I’m going to read this. Nothing about this makes any sense. Like, why does Nate suddenly have powersnow? It’s dumb.
ExtraordinaryGurl 19:19:AKSHDHDKD!!!! I DIDN’T SEE THIS COMING AT ALL. YEAH BOY! GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH
ShadowStarIsBae 19:30:I’m with MoltenMagma. This doesn’t make any sense. I mean, it’s cool and all that Nate won’t get captured (again—for the millionth time), but when did he become an Extraordinary?
FireStoned 20:45:WHY ARE YOU STILL INSISTING THAT SHADOW STAR IS GAY AND IN LOVE WITH THIS LOSER? HE IS STRAIGHT. NOT EVERYTHING IS GAY BECAUSE YOU WANT IT TO BE. THE RAINBOW DOESN’T BELONGTO THE GAYS. GIVE IT BACK AND MAKE SHADOW STAR STRAIGHT AGAIN. STRAIGHT PRIDE!!!!!
ReturnOfTheGray 21:21:SHADOWSTAR744, NO.
ShadowStar744,yes.
