Story: Stained In Sin
* * *
I’ve been driving around for three hours. I needed to clear my head after that meeting. I sent Lucien a text, telling him to keep an eye on Evelyn. He knows I was heading to my father’s, which is always for one thing—a hit.
This hit will be different, though. I’ve never killed a woman before. The only woman I came close to killing was Evelyn. She sent me over the edge. She lied to me. She knew what she did was fucking wrong.
I know this is going to break Evelyn completely, but I will be there to put her back together. She won’t have a choice.
I park outside of my next victim’s work and stare at the back entrance. I have my gun loaded and ready. This one will be quick. I don’t want it to be too personal. She didn’t do anything to earn a painful death. She happens to be the sacrifice for what I want. Evelyn.
My father never places a hit on someone without reason, which is what makes this one different. Personal. He wants me to back out, but there’s not a fucking chance.
Alaric didn’t seem to mind that I was going after someone close to his son. Bastard probably wants his son away from Astra anyway. He never liked her.
I flip through the rest of the file, knowing I have about ten more minutes before she walks out that door. There is nothing here really. It contains two photographs, a description, name, age, vehicle, school information, and place of work. No information is available regarding the reason behind the hit. Interesting.
I toss the file aside and open Evelyn’s location. She is at her house still. I pull up the cameras, and she’s still sleeping. I glance back at my clock, 2:25 P.M. She should be out any minute now.
I slide my gun into my palm, gripping it tightly as I roll down my window. I parked underneath a nearby tree, just enough to be covered from any cameras. I have a clear view of the door and her vehicle.
The back door swings open, and she emerges from the door into the afternoon light. She really is a good person. I’ve never been close to her, but now isn’t the time for thinking.
I watch her descend the stairs and waltz over to her car, oblivious to her surroundings. I slide my gun out of the side and take my aim. I wait for her back to be towards me, and I pull the trigger. The bullet slices through the air silently as my suppressor does its job.
Her body collapses to the ground, lifeless, and at peace. I don’t know how I will explain this, but the deal is done. My father gave me three days, and I got it done in four hours. He always underestimates me. I send him a text:
Done.

The smell of whiskey is the only thing filling the silence between us.
“What the fuck did you do to her?”
I pull out my phone and zoom in on her wound. I don’t want my best friend seeing her pussy. Or tits for that matter. Or any other motherfucker in this bar.
“Jesus fucking Christ.” He runs his fingers through his hair. I flash him a charismatic smile.
“She liked it.”
He exhales a breath. Lucien has always found my ways of expressing my loyalty to be extreme. At least that way no one will ever question my fucking loyalty.
“You just let her go after that? Where are you keeping her?”
“I had a job today. She’s at home.”
He nods, not fully believing me.
“My father gave me an ultimatum.”
His brows knit together, knowing it is unlike my father to play games. He’s always been direct.
“What kind of deal is he trying to strike?”
“It was kill Evelyn, or someone else.”
“Let me guess, you killed someone else.”
I nod to him, taking a sip of my whiskey.
