Enzo wasn’t going to come out. He was going to try to hide this out like the little coward that he was.
I pulled Elio along to the side of the house. “Give me a lift.”
He hooked his hands together and hoisted me up high enough for me to grab onto the edge of the roof and pull myself onto it. I came to the window where I saw the movement. I didn’t try to open it. I pulled my gun, aimed, and pulled the trigger. The glass shattered, and I heard a familiar cry as I jumped inside.
Enzo was hiding in the corner of the room, desperation seeping from every pore of his frail body.
“Massimo, please,” he begged. “I’m your uncle. We’re family.”
I laughed. “Do you really think that matters?”
He began to shake, his mouth opening, but nothing coherent came out.
“You can save your excuses, Uncle. It won’t save you.”
“Dear God, have mercy.”
I shook my head. “You’re asking the wrong deity. Tell the devil I said hi when you see him. And here’s a little present for you. I did kill my father. And I would do it all over again if I could.”
Didn’t he want that confession out of me for so long? He got it now.
I aimed my gun at his head and pulled the trigger.
Blood spattered out from his head and onto the wall behind him. I stood there, motionless. I had expected to feel a thrill ofsome sort, having just killed the one person I had been wanting to for so long, but all I felt was emptiness.
Something I usually felt after killing another man in the name of the De Luca empire.
I had spent so long hating him, but in the end, killing him was the same as killing a man I didn’t know.
I put the gun in my holster and moved out of the room, away from Enzo’s prone body.
I was going back home to my wife.
And that was all there was to it.

LUNA
Massimo loved me.
He loved me.
It still felt like a dream just thinking about it. For so long, I had wanted nothing more than to have just one person on my side, bymy side. And I had found that with Massimo, but love? It had felt like this distant idea, unreachable for someone like me.
But he loved me. And he would always choose me, even over Lina.
No one had ever chosen me over Lina.
Everyone knew she was the true mafia princess, and I had been nothing more than a child from another man whom Andre had taken in.
But Massimo chose me.
I blinked, feeling tears well up in my eyes. It seemed I hadn’t been able to stop crying since the night I found him and Lina in the office.
I should be surprised that my sister had been trying to seduce my husband. Sadly, I wasn’t. Romeo had called Massimo the day after to tell him he had Lina set up at one of the safe houses. I didn’t bother asking for details, nor did I want to know.
We should have done this the day Lina came to me. I didn’t owe her anything. I certainly didn’t owe her a safe haven in my home, even if I did feel bad about her situation with her husband…
