Story: Rescue Us
Later that night, Iheaded into Rouge to meet up with my brother and a few of the other guys. I would prefer if we went somewhere else, but I had to give it to the owners; the drinks were cheap, and the women were decent looking. If that was what you were looking for anyway. I just wanted to spend time with Ainsley.
I sent her a quick text, letting her know I was thinking of her.
Me: I hope your day went well.
The dancing dots appeared almost immediately.
Pet: It did, thank you. How was yours?
Me: It was good too but uneventful. Now I’m at the club with a few of the guys and I’d rather be with you.
Pet: You’re at a strip club but you got jealous over the fact that my assistant is a guy?
I stared at her text, not unexpecting her to actually call me out on my shit. I think that right there, made whatever these feelings I had for her, grow. Immensely.
Me: I’m a dick and I’m sorry for how I reacted.
Pet: You just there for drinks?
Me: What are you asking me, pet?
The dots danced, stopped, danced again.
Pet: I’m having a moment of jealousy myself.
Me: You have nothing to worry about. Just here for drinks with my brothers. But thank you. I’m glad I’m not the only one.
Pet: I’m confused.
Me: Same, babe. Same.
Pet: Enjoy your time with your brothers. Be safe.
Me: Always. I’ll see you soon.
“What or who put that grin on your face?”
I looked up from my phone as Jaron sat down across from me. “Nothing and no one.”
He chuckled, taking a sip of his beer. “Right.” He looked around the room, his body shifting in the seat.
“Something wrong?” I asked, my stomach twisting. Just once I would like an easy night.
“Not exactly.”
I frowned. “What do you mean?”
“I think I pulled a muscle.” He moved again, wincing. “And it hurts like a bitch.”
A laugh boomed through me. “Too much sex?”
“No such thing my friend.” He chuckled. “Piper is due anytime and I think she’s just dying for the baby to come, so she’s trying everything to make that happen. I usually love the attention, but my dick feels like I got fucked by sandpaper.”
“She’s in the safe zone, so if the baby comes now, both of them would be okay.”
Jaron raised an eyebrow. “How do you know that?”
I shrugged. “I read and know things.”
