Story: Rescue Us
(Cyrus)
“What the hell happened?” Sammy demanded as the nurses and doctors were wheeling Ainsley away.
“I went to call Rowan to see if there was an update and then when I went back into Ainsley’s room...” I couldn’t get the image out of my head of her stabbing that fucker. To say I was proud of her, was an understatement. “She stabbed him in the eye.” I slumped down onto the chair in the waiting room, running my hand over the back of my neck. “I knew she had it in her, but I never thought I’d see it.”
“Who was he?” Sammy asked, sitting on the table across from me while Cheesy and Locke moved to the empty chairs on either side of me.
“I don’t know. He was dressed in scrubs.” I looked between Cheesy and Locke then. “That’s why you never stopped him from entering the room.”
“Yeah.” Cheesy stood and began pacing. “If I would have known. I didn’t know.” He stopped, staring directly at me. “I’m sorry. I swear I didn’t know who he was. He looked legit.”
“I agree.” Locke huffed. “But good on your girl for stabbing him. He’s lucky that’s all he got. Fucking fucker. I hope he rots in jail, if he doesn’t die before then that is.”
“If he doesn’t die on the table...” My threat went unsaid. Ainsley started it but I would finish it. For her.
“He’s alive.”
Our heads turned as a cop came into the room, followed by a woman dressed in a suit.
“It seems we meet again, Cyrus.” Officer Jaxon approached us with ease. He nodded to his partner. “This is Detective Baldwin.”
“You can call me Jessica,” she said gently. “Can you tell us what happened?”
“I don’t know exactly,” I said looking between them. “I went into the room and my girlfriend was stabbing a man in the eye with a pen.” I knew there was no point in lying about it, seeing as the room Ainsley had stayed in, was filled with evidence. “I don’t know who he was but what I do know is that he was the one who attacked her.”
“How do you know this exactly?” Detective Baldwin asked.
“She told the nurse that he ripped her stitches open. I don’t know anything more than that. You’ll have to wait until she’s back from getting her ultrasound.” I hoped she didn’t need a second surgery but we would deal with it when the time came.
I stood and shoved past them, needing some air.
“Cyrus.” Sammy ran up behind me with Officer Jaxon and Detective Baldwin following behind him.
When Cheesy and Locke joined us in the hall, I went up to Cheesy first. “You care for her.”
He swallowed hard but nodded anyway.
“Then I need you to do me a favor.” I looked between them all. “All of you.”
Cyrus
Ainsley should havebeenon her way to recovery, but that bastard set things back to the point she did end up needing a second surgery. Once I was satisfied that she would be safe when she woke up, I went to pay someone a little visit. Money talked but what really helped me get the information I needed was Cheesy. Little did I know that he was such a ladies’ man.
