She cries out, nails carving scratches into my chest as she comes, her cloudy juices flooding the water between us.
I bury my face in her neck with a growl.“That’s it. Take it. All of it.” I bite down, not to mark, but hard enough to make her shake.
Even as the spasms slow, and she leans into me.
I hold her and the energy settles around us. Her gaze meets mine, and she smiles. “I really like it when you get rough like that.”
I pull her into a soft kiss, willing my heart to stop racing. Breaking it, I peer at her. “We need to figure out a safe word if that’s going to become a common occurrence.”
“We’ll figure one out with the others.”
I brush my knuckles along her cheek. “I’ve needed nothing more than this.”
Her breath catches. She kisses the corner of my mouth with tenderness. “Whenever you need me, I’m yours. Always.”
We stay tangled in the tub. Her body melts against mine. My knot keeps us locked together, and neither of us is in any rush.
I press a kiss to her temple. She traces the curve of my jaw with one wet fingertip.
We’ve already planned the bonding night. We’re just waiting for the ring to be made. Soon, it won’t just be instinct holding us together, she will be our claimed omega.
She’s still the same girl who made me want to climb higher. And the only one I’d fall for again, even knowing it’d hurt.
Chapter 18
Frankie’s in my hoodie again. The blue and white sleeves hang long past her wrists, almost hiding the white skirt underneath. It’s hard not to stare at her thick thighs. Her scuffed black boots add back the edginess she had when we were kids.
Carnival lights blink against the almost night sky, strung loose between metal poles. The place hums with shrieking laughter and the high whine of rides spinning.
I thought this would help take her mind off everything. We’ve planned the whole week, each of us getting time with her.
She grabs my hand and tugs me further into the carnival. There’s a wide grin on her lips. Exactly what I want to see.
For tonight, I want her to forget about work limbo and the craziness her body has her feeling.
After buying tickets, she books it for the food strip. The scent of grilling turkey legs and fried dough hangs in the air. My stomach growls. I can’t wait to chow down with her on all of it.
We start with funnel cake. I rip off a corner and bite too fast. The dough’s still steaming when it hits my tongue like an open flame. I curse under my breath, trying to chew through it without looking like a total idiot.
Frankie watches, one brow lifted. “You good?”
“It’s molten. Actual lava. Blow on yours.” I get out through gasps of air.
She laughs and tears off a bigger piece than I did. Pops it in her mouth. She chews slowly and swallows. “Wimp.”
I blink slowly at her. “Show-off.”
She shrugs and goes in for another bite. Powdered sugar coats her lips. She doesn’t wipe it away.
I lean down and slowly kiss her, dragging my tongue over her bottom lip. She tastes like goodness and sugar.
She blinks up at me when I pull back. “Is that your way of cleaning me off?”
“Worked, didn’t it?”
Frankie smirks. “You missed some here.” She points to the other corner of her mouth.
I go in again. We kiss for a moment. Then she loops her arm through mine and tugs us toward the next booth.
