Page 79 of Puck Your Friend
Logan opens the back door. He lifts her chin. “You’ve always been worth something.” His eyes search hers. “You matter to us, Kie. That’s never changed.” He kisses her forehead.
Wes nods from behind Logan. “He’s right. You matter, Gorgeous.”
I and Ford nod.
She doesn’t look like she fully believes us, but she slides in, takes the middle seat without pause. I follow her in. Logan gets in the other side. Ford climbs into the passenger. Wes gets behind the wheel and hits the button for the ignition.
Frankie buckles in. “We need snacks. Something salty, something sweet, and something that makes us question our life choices.”
Wes huffs a quiet laugh. “You ask, Gorgeous, and we deliver.”
After a bit of driving, we hit a gas station twenty minutes outside the city. She’s practically through the door before Wes finishes parking.
Inside, she grabs a small basket near the entrance and walks straight for the shelves. A bag of Hot Cheetos goes in first, and I can’t help but grin at that.
Some things never change.
Her eyes widen at the sight of peach rings and two bags get dropped in. When she rounds the corner into the drink coolers, I’m just a step behind. She pops the cooler door open and grabs a blue raspberry energy drink.
I arch a brow.“That brand’s more sugar than anything else.”
She glances back at me and smirks. “Exactly.”
I had no idea she has such a sweet tooth, but with how little she ate before, I’m glad to see her getting some extra calories into her body.I grab chocolate-covered pretzels and a bottled iced coffee. She gives my choices a once-over and nods in approval.
Ford walks up with a burrito wrapped in foil and a container of nachos. Frankie arches a brow.“Seriously?”
He shrugs. “I like to live on the edge.”
Wes tosses jerky sticks and sour worms into the basket. Logan adds chili cheese Fritos, powdered donuts, and a cold brew.
Frankie eyes our haul. “Pretty sure this counts as a balanced diet.”
I take the basket from her so she doesn’t have to hold it and wink. “At least by gas station standards.”
We check out and load into the SUV again. After a quick top off of gas, Wes merges onto the highway while Ford cues up a playlist. Frankie opens the peach rings first.
She eats them slow. Bites into the curve, one little piece at a time, lips catching on the sugar, eyes focused out the window. Her scent thickens as she relaxes. It soothes my inner Alpha because it signals she’s content. We’re providing her with what she needs.
The slow beat ofDesireby Meg Meyers comes on.
I watch her fingers dip into the bag. She lifts another ring and holds it between her full lips. Leaning down, I steal the gummy before she can bite. My tongue drags over her lips to chase the sugar crystals.
She gasps into it, surprised, then breaks the kiss with narrowed eyes. “You stole my candy!”
I smirk. “You liked it.”
Frankie grabs another and lifts it, half-daring me with a grin as she runs her tongue over the outer edge.
Fuck. I know just how talented that tongue is.
My dick rears to life, ready to go at the drop of a hat.
Logan chuckles. “Those peach rings take me back.” He angles in, arm draped along the back behind her next to mine. His right hand settles on her thigh as he kisses her before she can bitedown, lips claiming the candy and dragging a moan from her throat as he kisses her deeply.
Her fingers hook into his collar. I shift closer. My left-hand brushes her jaw, guiding her toward me.
Logan’s mouth trails to her neck, kissing beneath her ear. She sighs and melts into the touch, tilting her head to give him more space. Her other hand slips into my hair, nails grazing lightly. I kiss her again, rolling my tongue with hers and moan as I cup the side of her face.
