Story: Harbinger
“Spicy?” I giggled, unable to help myself. “That’s a new one.”
“And, Halo, you gazing intently at my horns really isn’t helping matters either.”
“I… sorry.”
“Don’t be sorry, just call it like it is.”
“I have this urge to… touch them,” I admitted.
“That’s to be expected. We got carnal together. You’re gonna be drawn to them. Not in a free-will-confiscatingallureway, more like a natural progression of the sexual connection and growing intimacy between us.”
“Oh, I didn’t know.”
“It’s not something they teach here when it comes to supernatural species. They kind of keep away from the sexual aspect, except where potentially dangerous things likeallureandcoercionare concerned.”
“Maybe after dinner, you can let her glide her soft, warm fingers all over them,” Kai suggested.
“Dammit, Kai,” Nyx choked. “Do you want me to jump the both of you right now?”
Kai smirked. “Always.” But then he shifted his weight and folded his arms across his chest. “But, Ari is right, the focus first needs to be on V. He needs us.”
“Yeah,” Nyx agreed, blinking out of his turned-on state and getting a hold on it like Kai clearly was. “He needs our help.”
Before anything more could be said, the sound of a door slamming drew our attention, and we all turned to see Vorzyr storming out of the main building.
I saw Nyx shuddering, obviously feeling the overwhelming negative emotions radiating off him.
He caught my eye, and then he was pushing gently at my mind.
“Struggle, frustration, anger, and even potent fear.”
I gave a discreet nod of my understanding.
And then I took in Vorzyr as he caught sight of us and approached, that barely-controlled volatility, a stark contrast to the sleek and fancy way he was dressed.
He was wearing crimson leather pants this time with golden threads, along with an open-collared, crisp white shirt, his thick gold chains and the jeweled pendant of the dragon’s head hanging around his neck. That ornate high-collared crimson and gold coat with the encrusted rubies completed his look.
He pulled up short when he saw the three of us standing there.
“Sorry,” he offered, as he came over. “I guess I’m still a little worked up from the brutal justice session.”
It was worrying that he was still framing it like that.
It wasn’t even torture to him, it was just… necessary?Shit. He was in a really bad headspace.
Not for long.
As he reached out, I grasped his arm, and he trembled, his need stark and undeniable.
“I know why you’re truly worked up, what’s down at the bedrock of it all.” I smiled up at him, a promise in my eyes that he frowned at, not sure what to make of it. “We’re going to see to that before dinner.”
“Before dinner? What are you—”
In the next second, I swept all of us up in a cloud of teleportation.
We rematerialized in Meforian Forest.
I breathed in the freshness of the surroundings, the air thick with enchantment.
