Story: Gash
“Look, killing someone, ittakes its toll on a person.”
“Rebecca and Jeff, I don’t carewhat their names are now. They deserve to die.Do you think I’m abad person because I don’t care?”
He glanced over at her, and saw that therewas absolutely no expression on her face. She looked like they weretalking about the weather rather than killing someone.
“How many people have youkilled?”she asked.
“I don’t keep count.WithThe Skulls, you learn to move on and forget about the shit that youdo.”
“When I first met you, I knew youwere dangerous.Once I saw your leather jacket, I researched TheSkulls. The club has a mixed bag for a reputation. You’re dangerousand yet you fight to keep Fort Wills clean.”
“It’s our town.Tiny made sureall the bad shit stayed out.”He’d been away when more trouble hitthe club. The moment he got out, he’d promised Tiny he would waitto get his revenge until the club was in a better situation.“Doesthat bother you?”he asked.
“No.”
“Seriously?”heasked.
“There’s not a lot I can do aboutit.I take it you’ve never taken the life of an innocent before?”Charlotte asked.
“I can’t guaranteeanything.”
“I attacked several male andfemale nurses while I was away in hospital,” she said.“I hated howthey kept me safe.It sucked.”
Gash gripped the steering wheel. He didn’tlike how easily it came to her to talk about the fact she tried toend her own life.“How long has it been since you tried to end it?”He snapped the words out, and he looked toward her.
“It has been years, Gash.I’venot tried for abouttwo years.I decided to start living, not that you can callworking and eating, really living.”
“Does your doctor stilltalk to you?”
“Sometimes. He’s always hada lot of patients.”
“Did he pay carefulattention to you?”
“No.Not at all.”She reached outand took his hand.“I’m not going to blow or do something crazy.Ihad the therapy, and even though at times it’s tough, I’m not goingto do anything drastic.I’m good.”
He held her hand as they droveforward. The long road out of Fort Wills was somewhat abandoned. There were a few houses dotted across the land, and plenty offarmland.
Tapping the steering wheel, he started towhistle.Relaxed and happy, Gash held onto Charlotte like alifeline.
Within seconds, memories ofthepaststarted to flash through his mind.
“What can I help youwith?”Rebecca asked.
“Well, baby, I’m here to see aslut about a guy,” Gash said, taking a swig of his beer. This woman in frontof him was just begging to be fucked. He saw the way she licked herbottom lip and the way she arched toward him.Her tits werepractically exploding out of her shirt.
He shouldn’t trust her, and hedidn’t, buthe was on a mission to find his brother.Tiny had told him that heneeded to locate Andrew.Gash hadn’t given the fucker much of athought, but if the club needed to know where he was, then he’dfind him.
Most of the time in thepast Andrew had been easily located in dives, drugs holes, or sexclubs. He was an evil fucker.Even when they were kids, Gash hadknown the evil that was in his brother’s eyes.
Growing up in foster homesthere had been rumors about Andrew. When they had found a placewhere a family wanted them both, Andrew had pretended to be theperfect son,but Gash had seen the way he commanded people.Women were scared ofAndrew, and men flocked to him given how good he was at taking whathe wanted.
Pulling out of the memory, Gash pulledup against the side of the road.
“What is it?”
“I was looking for my brotherseven years ago,” Gash said.
“Andrew?”
