Story: Flight of Fancy
“Thought so. You’re very proper and careful outside of the bedroom. Tell you what – I’ll settle for a selfie with your hair down. I already miss seeing it.”
Arianna grinned. “When I get home. It’s too cramped in here for me to do it.”
“Have a safe flight. I love you.”
“I love you too.”
Arianna held her phone to her chest, still smiling. It was so strange telling someone besides her sister that she loved them. I don’t even tell my mom that I love her. That wasn’t how it worked in their family. Pearl showed love with food and being a nosy butthead, and in return, Arianna was a decent daughter who stayed out of trouble. Like not sending nudes and naughty videos to other women, mostly because those files could be leaked. Not only would Arianna be mortified, but what if someone recognized her? The whole reason Genevieve Liu’s scandal blew up was because everyone saw her face. And everything else…
Really, Arianna needed to stop thinking about it. She was only this flustered because Genevieve had paid attention to her and had been as gracious in person as she was famous for being. Arianna had other delightful things to remember, like her week in Seattle, full of sightseeing, amazing food, canoodling, and… well, sex.
The sex was the best part.
Arianna only thought that because this was her first real relationship. Even in her late twenties, she was still giddy at the thought of having someone to fool around with on her days off. Someone who loves me. And my body. Arianna was certainly another level of confident these days. People noticed it.
Perhaps she should be lewd for a change.
She peeked through the curtain separating her from the dimly lit bunk room. After securing the curtain back into place, she turned on her light and pushed her blanket down her stomach. This was not the best bed for being wicked, but Arianna couldn’t help it: once her shirt was up to her throat and her bra down beneath her breasts, she snapped a few pictures of her bare nipples, ensuring that nothing was identifying about her in any of the shots.
Why are my nipples hard? Give me a break. Couldn’t have possibly been because of the mish-mash of sexy images in her head, whether they were from her love life or somebody else’s. Arianna had a problem, and it was the knowledge that the first thing she was doing when she got home was using the vibrator Elle gave her months ago.
She took one last picture for good measure. Perhaps she should have called it good before then because for the first time since her tenure in Royal Asia, someone knocked on the wall by her head and waved to her through the thick curtain.
The sound Arianna made could have woken the dead buried in the ocean ten thousand feet below her.
“Sorry!” She recognized that thick American accent before she made herself decent and pulled back the curtain to discover Riley, who had come this close to seeing her coworker’s breasts. My bra is still down… One strap fell down Arianna’s arm. They would both have to pretend that didn’t happen. “I’m, uh, interrupting… aren’t I?”
“What do you want?” Arianna snapped.
“Relax, we’re the only ones in here right now. Everyone else on break is in the coffee galley going on about one of the passengers in First Class. Some hottie with a lesbian sex tape? I am now learning the details.”
Arianna furrowed her brows, blanket pulled up to her neck. She lost her phone somewhere between her butt and the wall behind her. “It was leaked. Don’t watch it. It would be disrespectful.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
Arianna’s face softened. “What is it?”
“I just…” Riley sheepishly looked away. It took Arianna a moment to realize her bra strap was hanging out. After she quickly fixed it, Riley continued, “I was worried that you were still mad at me. I wanted to make sure we were cool.”
“About what?”
Riley looked at her as if Arianna suddenly developed dementia. “Uh, your sister. I never got her number, by the way. Or her ChatSnap. Or her Instagram.”
“Do you think I’m going to give it to you?”
“No. I was checking in that you’re not mad at me. Sooo…”
“For what?” Arianna shoved her head out of the bunk, distrusting Riley’s assertion that they were the only ones in the tiny room located above the main cabin. “Am I supposed to be mad at you? It’s not like you targeted my sister or something. I was shocked. Besides, that was weeks ago now. We don’t talk about it over tea if that’s what you’re wondering.”
“She hasn’t mentioned me at all?”
Arianna forced a shrug. “Guess you weren’t that memorable.”
“Damn. That’s cold.”
“Yeah, I don’t think it’s happening, sorry.” Kaylinn hadn’t brought it up again, and neither had Arianna, as nature intended. “She’s actually going on a second date with some guy she met at a single’s mixer a couple of weeks ago. Don’t ask me his name. Nike or Adidas or something.”
“You’re kidding.”
