“Y-yeah, well, I didn’t much fancy adding to the patchwork of scars while we’re here. Actually,” I quickly correct, “if you want to start brandishing my knife again, I might just reconsider.”
Her lips open and close a couple of times.
“I won’t hurt you, Daemon,” she says eventually.
Ignoring the dinner for a moment, I spin around and rest my arse back against the counter.
My eyes drop down the length of her, taking in her crop top with a crown on the front, the curve of her waist, her short skirt and then her sinful legs that I crave to feel wrapped around my body.
“You need some sunscreen, beautiful,” I point out when I finally make it back up to her eyes, ignoring her previous comment.
“Bit late now, the sun is going down,” she points out.
I glance over her shoulder, noticing that she’s right and that the sun is quickly sinking toward the sea.
A smile pulls at my lips as a wicked image floats into my mind.
“What?” she asks hesitantly.
“Just imagining getting you ready for being in the sun tomorrow.”
“What do yo— oh.” Her lips form a perfect circle as her mind catches up with mine. “I was considering a little naked sunbathing.”
My temperature spikes at her words.
“I can get on board with that, beautiful.”
“Huh,” she mutters, eyeing me suspiciously.
“What’s going on in your head right now, Angel?”
“I’m just surprised, is all.”
“About what?”
“That you’re not freaking out about a seagull getting a glimpse of my tits.”
A laugh rumbles in the back of my throat.
“Don’t worry, I’ve got plenty of ammo for any little fucker who looks at anything he shouldn’t. Your body is mine, Angel.”
Her nipples pebble against her tank at my words.
“You like that, don’t you? You like knowing that you’ll be lying there in the sun and I’ll be on my knees for you, unable to look away from your beauty.”
“Daemon,” she half warns, half moans.
“You have no idea the power you hold over me, do you?”
She chews on her bottom lip as she studies me across the room.
“I need you to do something for me,” she finally blurts.
“Anything.”
A sly smile curls at her lips and her eyes sparkle with achievement.
“What’s going to happen if you don’t pass your exams?” she asks simply, throwing me for a loop.
