Story: Covert (Eagle Tactical 4)
Chapter Five
Skylar
It was a stupid plan, and I was an idiot for going along with it, but I needed the money. I also wasn’t risk avert.
I threw myself into terrible situations all the time, but it usually involved sleazy men and too many drinks.
I wore a short black sequin dress that Jayden had brought me home in my size. I’d been staying over at his place the last few days since our fake engagement.
The dress fit nice and snug and hugged all my curves in just the right way.
How had he known my size?
I just couldn’t quite reach for the zipper.
I held the dress up around my torso. There were no straps.
“Zip me up in the back,” I said, and gestured behind me to the open gown.
Jayden stared at me for a minute, his mouth agape.
I tilted my head to the side, smiling at him as he stared at the dress barely covering my assets.
“Did you hear me?” I asked, my voice softer. I could feel the heat creep into my cheeks. I had to be blushing.
“Wow, yes, hold your hair up,” he instructed, grabbing a fistful of my hair and tugged. He pulled my neck to the side.
Jayden leaned closer.
His breath hovered over my exposed neck. A shiver coursed through my body.
Was he going to kiss me?
My gaze glanced up toward him.
Jayden leaned closer and whispered against my ear. “Grab your hair, and I’ll zip your dress.”
Right the dress.
I’d already forgotten that was why he had nestled up behind me. I was ready to take the damned thing off and have my way with him on the mattress just a few feet from where we stood.
Why did he have this power over me?
I held up my tresses, keeping them out of the way as Jayden’s fingers tugged the zipper slowly upward. His breath teased my skin in the process.
I shut my eyes, reveling in the feeling of being wanted.
Did he want me? Or was it just an act?
He had me believing it was real.
I wasn’t the one who he needed to convince that we were engaged.
His touch on me disappeared, and I felt an emptiness burn through me.
I spun around on my bare feet, staring up at him. Jayden dressed sharply in black slacks with a white button-down dress shirt. It was a far cry from his attire at the bar.
Was Jayden trying to impress Enzo tonight or someone else at the party?
