Story: Bratty Badboys
“Aw, my angel.” Kyle ran a hand through my hair and kissed my cheek.
“And I think I might be pregnant,” I said, tears flowing down my cheeks.
“What?” Caleb whispered, his hands going around my stomach as he peered at me. “Are you sure?”
I shook my head as Kyle squeezed my hand. “I haven’t taken a test, but my period is one week late.”
“Of course,” Kyle mumbled. “I check your cycle and didn’t get a notification for your period this month.”
“We might become dads,” Caleb whispered to himself and blinked, shaking his head. “Even if you’re not pregnant, it’s okay. We will try harder.”
I chuckled as he leaned in to kiss me. I smiled into the clumsy kiss as Kyle held my jaw to kiss him. Soft lips brushed against mine, and soon we were all making out gently, giggling over each other’s lips as Kyle’s heart monitor beeped loudly for an increased heartbeat, making me laugh.
Caleb and Kyle were mine, and I was theirs.
Everything was perfect as long as we had each other.

EPILOGUE
ANNA
I hummed as my mom stirred the pot of soup while Alice and Aaron talked about dinosaurs sitting on the island stools.
“They are a handful,” my mother commented and put the gas on low heat, following her to the guest room. She had come to live with me for a few days because she missed being around people. I think she was scared that someone might try to hurt me again like Felix did a month ago.
“I’m sure you felt the same way about us,” I smiled, talking about me and my siblings. Katie was busy with her work and scheduled weekly video calls. I was more worried about her non-existent dating life than anything else.
“Oh, you have no idea,” she said, sitting down on the bed and sighing. “I didn’t know you were dating.”
I froze. I hadn’t told my mom about Caleb and Kyle.
She raised her brow. “I’m your mother, of course, I know everything.”
I swallowed, readying myself for whatever she was going to say. But instead of scolding me or verbally abusing me like she would have done in the past, she continued,
“I’m also dating someone,” her voice was gentle, surprising me at the news. “He is an older gentleman living in my neighborhood and he’s four years younger than me. His grandkids are wonderful, and he wanted to meet Alice.”
I bit the inside of my cheek as my mom rambled on about her walking dates. I had never seen her like that before. So excited about her life with a warm smile on her face.
“I’m happy for you, mom,” I said sitting beside her and holding her hand. And I was happy for her. She deserved someone to love her.
