Story: Austen

“I thought maybe you could use some help fixing upFancy.”
“I don’t know. You might have to roll up your sleeves, get paint on yourself.”
She lowered herself down, her arms around his neck.
“I love to paint.”
“And then, you know, once the boat is fixed...who knows where we’ll end up?Could be...we’ll follow the current.”
“Adrift.I’m in.”He leaned close, the musk of him sweeping through her.
She lifted herself on her toes, lowered her voice, her lips close to his.“You do know that you’re supposed to request permission to come aboard.”
“Can I come aboard?”he whispered, his voice husky.
“This could get complicated.”
“I love complicated,” he said as his mouth skimmed her neck.
“As long as you don’t get in the way.I have a big life, you know.”
“I know,” he said, leaning back.“But just so you know, I’m so going to get in your way.”
“Finally.”She lifted her mouth to his.
And then, as the night sky dropped starlight into the water, he kissed her.And very much got in her way.
