Story: A Realm of Dark Fury
“Norahi threatened to kill you, has he told you that?” My father’s ire was rising, I could see it as his violet eyes began to glow brighter in his pale face. “Did he tell you that he threatened the life of my only child?”
“He has, as a matter of fact, and considering the circumstances I can’t blame him.”
My father moved closer to me again, his eyes narrowing. “And when exactly did he tell you this? Because when I saw him last night I was very much under the impression that you did not yet know.”
“That’s hardly important right now.”
My father’s eyes widened. “No.”
“What?”
He looked so angry for a moment I thought he would strike me. “You’ve not been with him, have you?” When I didn’t answer, he leaned closer, his eyes wild. “I want you to tell me, have you been with him?”
“I will tell you no such thing,” I replied defiantly.
“You are my child and you will answer me now.” My father’s voice had dropped to a dangerous snarl. “He came to you last night, didn’t he? He was in your room, in your bed.”
“You have no right whatsoever to know anything of such an intimate nature, father.”
“He’s had you, hasn’t he?” He turned away from me and threw his arms up. “Fucking bastard of a fucking degenerate demon, I’m going to fucking tear him to pieces.”
“No you won’t.”
His head snapped back towards me. “Do you already carry his child?”
I laughed bitterly. “You’re being preposterous now.”
“You will tell me!”
“No!” I cried. “You will stop this! I am locked up here, in your enemy’s castle, a prisoner, and you’re here asking me who I have taken to my bed?Thatis your concern? Your only child, and this is what you’re in here shouting at me about?”
My father pointed a finger at me, jerking it in the air. “Norahi is not to touch you, or he dies.”
“Anyone who harms him will fall under my blade.”
My father’s jaw fell open as he scoffed in outrage. “You would threaten your own blood?”
“Heismy blood,” I growled through gritted teeth.
My father’s eyes widened and he stumbled a little, away from me, his hands falling to his sides. “No.” He shook his head. “That’s not possible. It’s not -“ He flew at me, his fingers digging into my upper arms as he shook me. “You have not bonded yourself to him?”
“Lada chooses those as she sees fit, you know very well I had no control over it and neither did Rook.”
“Rook?” My father was aghast, veins bulging in his temple. “Rook?” He spat the name out like poison, and shook me harder. “Have you given your body to him? I demand you tell me now.”
I shoved him away from me. “How dare you ask me that.”
“So you have.” His finger came up again, pointing at me. “You have. You opened your legs for a fucking Night Demon.”
“You’re disgusting.” I shook my head. “You claim to be of the Faith and then question the Bond?”
“A Fae, and a Night Demon? Bonded?” He raked his hands through his white hair. “It is obscene, unheard of.”
“Well it has happened.” I hadn’t wanted to tell him, and I knew this could get dangerous very, very quickly, for both Rook and myself. “If you want your Kingdom back, if youeverwant to see me be free again, you will saynothing.”
“If he touches you -“
“I’ve already told you what will happen if any harm comes to him. Now, we should get back to the banquet.” I walked to the door, raising my hand to the handle, stopped by my father’s hand. I turned to look up into his eyes, which were full of fury.
