I smiled and nodded. “If this is a proposal, I accept.”

Drusilla let out something akin to a squeak and scurried for her chambers. “I won’t be a part of this, I’ll leave you two alone.” The door swung shut behind her, and we were alone.

Rook immediately seized me in his arms and carried me to the bed. I broke out in giggles, wrapping my arms around his neck.

“What are you doing?” I asked.

He placed me on the bed and kissed me deeply, propping himself up so as not to hurt me. He still treated me like I was made of glass, no matter how many times I told him I felt fine.

“The healer said you still need to be careful,” he murmured against my lips. “But I can’t go any longer without hearing you moaning my name.”

He tore open my robe and dragged his tongue over my nipple. My gasp quickly turned into a moan, my back bowing, pressing my body against him. Desire flooded me, and I pawed at his clothes, wanting to feel his warm skin on mine.

It felt so dangerous to do this, in broad daylight, when Drusilla could walk in at any moment. But Rook’s fingers moved between my thighs, swirling over my clit and plunging into the liquid heat that pooled at his touch, and every worry left me.

“Take off your clothes.” I tugged his shirt loose from his trousers. “I need you to fuck me.”

The words had scarcely left my mouth, and he was already setting about stripping off, until his body was naked and warm against me. He hesitated as he hovered over me, and with a frustrated grunt I pulled him down to me with my legs and arms, tangling around him.

“Would you stop worrying?” I said with a sigh.

“I don’t want to -”

I silenced him with a kiss, my fingertips clawing at his shoulders, clutching him to me, suddenly overwhelmed with urgency. His uncertainty seemed to dissolve, and his mouth moved from mine down my throat, back to my nipple, covering my breast as he sucked.

I cried out, and he lifted his head at the same time that he plunged into me, seating himself fully inside me with one hard thrust. My head fell back on the pillow, and his hand was instantly behind my head, lifting me back to him.

“You look at me, princess,” he said with a gasp. “You keep your eyes on me.”

I whimpered as he withdrew then filled me again, as though he was claiming me all over again. Every time it felt like this, like my body was giving itself to him for the very first time, remembering the smell of his skin and the heat of his body, the sharp raking of his fingertips at the nape of my neck.

He kissed me ferociously, and I allowed myself a long moan, smothered by his lips and his tongue.

We didn’t have much time, but it didn’t matter. Our desire and longing for each other drove us to that climax quickly, and he pressed his forehead to mine as we met each other there. I bit my lips together as I trembled violently underneath him, the heat between my thighs threatening to consume me.

Rook groaned into my neck, one hot breath after another washing across me as he subsided.

“Oh, fucking Gods,” he said finally with a breathless chuckle. He raised his head to gaze down at me. “Did I hurt you?”

I rolled my eyes, my chest still heaving. “You most certainly didn’t hurt me.”

“Well, good. You’re not so broken after all.” He grinned as he withdrew from me. “Shame we don’t have more time, I’d like to do that again.” He plunged himself back into me, and I was so surprised I couldn’t suppress the cry that broke from me.

“Oh you bastard,” I bit out, shivering. He began to move again, how was this possible? My body was not anywhere near subsided yet, and the deep warmth in my belly grew quickly as he moved deeper and deeper within me. “You’re going to drive me mad.”

I propped myself up on my elbows, looking down between us, watching our bodies join over and over again. Rook smiled against my cheek.

“You see, princess? I told you, you take me so well.”

I let out a breathy laugh which hissed into a gasp as he drove into me again. Watching him enter my body like this was incredible, and sent my arousal into a dizzying spiral.

My head fell back and all I could say was, “Harder.”

He obliged immediately, catching my mouth again, tasting my moans as my body rose, impossibly, headily, towards yet another climax.

There were sudden exclamations and calls for attention outside my door, and my body cried out in disappointment as Rook withdrew and climbed off me. It took me two breaths to realize what was happening before I too scrambled off the bed.

“Fuck, that sounds like Theron is coming.” He hurriedly pulled on his trousers and shirt as I fled to the bathroom. The bathroom door flew open a second after I slammed it shut, and Rook threw a gown at me, which I caught with a startled laugh. “Get dressed.”
