She shot up and twisted to look at him. “You arenotstaying here.”
He gently pushed her back down, using the movement to scoot closer. “Yes, Iamstaying here. I’ll sleep on the couch, but for right now, I want to watch some of this. Or do you not trust yourself not to jump me long enough to watch a movie with me?”
Her mouth worked to form words. It was hilarious, but he decided to put her out of her misery.
“I’m not going to jump you, Sara. Relax, drink your Coke, and let’s watch the show, okay?”
Her face screwed up so hard, it alarmed him. He didn’t want her to be so uncomfortable she couldn’t relax. That was what he’d planned—a relaxing night before the stress of tomorrow. If this was going to bother her, he’d go into the living room and watch whatever was on cable.
“Fine,” she huffed and slouched against the pillows belligerently. He had no idea you could slouch belligerently, but Sara pulled it off, and pulled it off well. Mason needed lessons on belligerence from her.
She didn’t kick him to the couch, and that was the biggest win of the day.
They settled into a comfortable silence and watched the Winchester boys do some crazy things. He hadn’t thought he’d like the show, but it was funny as hell. He’d have to tell Conner about it. His brother needed more laughter in his life.
As they got deeper into season three, he found himself wanting to deck Sam. Idiot thought he was the end-all be-all solution when, in fact, he caused the whole mess. Dean was obviously the better hunter and the man with more sense.
And then the hellhound came for Dean.
It was awful. He took Sara’s hand and held on when they dragged his favorite character off to hell, leaving behind a bloody dead body. No. He wouldn’t accept it.
“Something wrong?” Sara asked, a glint in her eye. She knew exactly what was wrong and was silently laughing at his ass.
“What the fuck? They just killed off my favorite character!”
She laughed so hard tears sprang to her eyes.
“This isn’t funny shit, Sara. I don’t want to watch any more of the fucking show.”
“Is fuck your favorite word?”
“Yes.”
She tossed her hair, her eyes shining with laughter. “Do you honestly think that show has lasted, what, thirteen seasons now without Dean? It’s about thetwobrothers.”
Viktor pursed his lips in displeasure. Fucking writers and their cliffhangers.
“You’re cute when you’re pissed off at a TV show.”
That got his attention. “You think I’m cute, do you?”
Her eyes went wide, and her mouth popped open in surprise. “I said that out loud, huh?”
“Da, and you can’t take it back.” He sat up and pulled off his shirt. It was damn hot in here.
“What are you doing?”
“I never sleep with my shirt on.” He rolled his shoulders and stretched.
“You’re damn well going to tonight!”
He gave her an ornery grin and reclaimed her hand. “Why’s that, moye sokrovishche?Don’t trust yourself?”
Sara’s mouth ran dry when all that tanned, muscled chest came into full view. The man’s abs went on for days. And no, she didn’t trust herself. Her fingers itched to explore every inch of him.
When his head dipped so it was close to her, she nearly bit her tongue in two. Dear sweet baby Jesus, but he smelled good.
And he was still holding her freaking hand!
