Page 48 of Tyton: The Spider and the Dragonfly (Tyton #1)

Adlets – gang that controls the Rhea district.

AI Psych – person who accesses Models to keep them sane and coax them to release novel products.

Auratomics – single atom-width wires based on gold integrated into a variety of substances.

Biosig – unique personal identifier produced by nanoids.

Biosig sensors – device that reads a person’s unique nanoid signature, regardless of current body modifications, clothing or light level.

BulitWeave – moderately bullet resistant clothing worn by most residents of Tyton. Replaced most consumer grade fabrics after cotton ceased to be harvestable in large quantities.

The Cars – neighbourhood within Rhea. An abandoned subway station that has been repurposed to function as housing and shops by the lower classes.

Chargers – homeless whose cyberware is no longer functional without constant recharging. Live in the access tunnels. Steal electricity and scavenge replacement parts.

ChemTec – cyberware that produces and releases chemicals that enhance performance. Requires a subscription.

Coeus – district to the South of Rhea. Multiple gangs dispute territory.

Cyberware – implanted devices that improve human functionality.

Demag – to deactivate a mag capable system

DocPods – chambers where surgery is performed by AI. Requires nanoids to function.

Ghosts – people with no nanoids. Cannot use most cyberware. Invisible to biosig sensors

Hexaline – printed honeycomb structural bricks inlaid with Auratomic wire. They are light, sturdy and can connect with external processors to produce screens, light and transparent ports.

Hexcel – printed honeycomb structural cellulose products. Replaced both paper and wood.

Hyperion – district to the Northwest of Rhea. Controlled by the Harpies.

IntelArms – firearms that link with a user’s Opti to lock on to a target’s biosig.

Leto – district to the North of Rhea. Multiple gangs dispute the territory. Has a human trafficking problem.

Lumijute – jute bioengineered with nanoid-producing organelles. Primarily used as shibari rope that lights up.

Magboot – boots with a magnetic heel and inner ankle magribbon.

Magclamp – surface that can be activated or disactivated to attach or release a mag system capable device that has a magribbon.

Magstrip – metallic implant along the jaw and forehead. Allows masks to be attached and seal with negative pressure.

MobilePod – aluminium living quarters used as temporary housing during Tyton’s construction. Several remain and have been repurposed.

Models – large artificial intelligence server farms that can only be accessed through singular dumb terminals in a Ruskov Chamber. Used primarily to produce novel products.

Nanoids – molecular bots using a colloidal protein structure around auratomics. Vastly increases healing and interface capabilities with cyberware. Unique signatures for each person. Accumulate in the body with age and overwhelm parasitic invaders.

Opti – cyberware that projects images across the cornea and audio along an implanted bone conductor. Requires a subscription.

PalmInter – personal interface that connects user to external devices. Used mainly to transfer script or interact with Hexaline.

Retrovirus (unnamed) – airborne virus that attacks the Y chromosome, producing no visible symptoms. Encodes for synthetic organelles in males of the next generation. Synthetic organelles then pass on to all subsequent offspring.

Rhea – district where most of Tyton takes place. Controlled by the Adlets

Ruskov Chamber – supercooled sterile chamber where Models are housed and interfaced.

Scrip – currency used in Tyton.

SmartCartridges – shells with miniature air hydraulics that guide fired rounds toward a given biosig for greater accuracy. Used with IntelArms.

Strength Amplifier – patch installed on most humans at the age of eight or nine. Increases human strength. Marginal effect on men.

Styx – gang that controls Tethys.

SubSuit – cold climate suit worn when temperatures are too low for Thermabulles to be effective.

Synthetic Organelle – organelle designed to propagate with its own genetic code and produce nanoids in humans. A plant adapted synthetic organelle has recently been produced in jute.

TacWeave – military grade BulitWeave cloth.

Tethys – district to the East of Rhea. Controlled by the Styx.

Thermabulle – system for generating a personal heat shield from diverted heat waste produced by cyberware.

Transitional cyberware – disability aids that marginally surpass human functionality. Supplanted by true cyberware when DocPods became widespread.

Vendr – Vending machine that sells non-perishable items. Often found in middle class personal flats.
